Do you sit reading fairy tales to your children, or remember childhood, tales of princesses, knights and happy ever afters?
Life really is like a fairy tale - we just forget to see it that way sometimes. How? Well let’s take that story of the Princess and her ‘evil’ stepmother and how the Princess was banished to the forest to be executed. So the Princess’s life started off happily, playing in the castle without a care in the world, surrounded by people she loved, feeling safe and secure. Life events, such as the loss of her mother, meant her life was turned upside down. Not only losing someone she dearly loved but also feeling like an outsider in her own place of safety. Fast forward a few years and jealousy from her stepmother meant the princess was outcast from the castle. Did this make the Princess bitter and angry? No. She adapted to her new role, not judging others (like the Dwarves) for their size, attitudes or life choices. Eventually she did meet her Princess Charming just by being herself. If we look back and think about most fairy tales we only remember the good parts. The Princess, the friendships she made. But if you look at almost any fairy tale, the main character had to overcome a lot of adversity to get there. Isn’t it about time you took control of your own fairy tale? Not blaming others for the last chapter but realising you really can make your fairy tale have its own happy ending? If you need help writing that next chapter in your book, why not consider hypnotherapy? Think of hypnotherapy as a perfect pair of reading glasses that helps you to see the pages for what they really are, just a story where you really do have control of having that… ‘Happy ever after’.

![]() How many times have you sat in a meeting at the office and, in your mind, been on that last beach holiday? Or walking around a local supermarket, remembering the last time you picked up that certain food and reminiscing about a night you had with friends or family. When people ask me to describe how hypnotherapy feels, I usually describe a daydream-like state as one of my comparisons. In a deeply relaxed state, the mind can be allowed to focus on making sense of everything that is going on around us. Kids are great daydreamers. I am sure most of you remember playground games, where you lived in a castle or were being chased by a dragon. I am not saying you have to go back to that daydream childlike state, but wouldn’t it be great to be able to take yourself away from it all, for a short period of time, to sort out what’s going on in the subconscious mind. You can with hypnotherapy. Think of it like a giving yourself a bit of ‘ME’ time. Pure self indulgence. Why not pop along to my show at the Chequer Mead on the 24th of September where I’ll be talking about taking ‘A Weight off your Mind’ or come and see me at the Sussex Women’s show on the 27th and 28th of September. If you would like to know more about healthy eating and how changing your mind about food can help you lose weight. Relationships are more than this. We have relationships with all those around us, friends, family, the shopkeeper from the local shop that hands you your newspaper each day, and many others. If I asked you to create a circle with ten layers in it, each one numbered by how important you are compared to other people, I wonder where you would place yourself in comparison to them? Let me give you an example. You have been in a relationship for many years, so you would place yourself on the same circle as your partner. In a social situation you feel inferior to the opposite sex, reluctant to join in conversations, worried that everyone will laugh at some incorrect comment you may make. How about allowing hypnotherapy to help with gaining a whole new perspective on your social status? Some of the areas I have worked on with individuals are: Feeling an equal partner in a relationship Helping you to appreciate your own position in society. Everyone is important, no matter what or who they are. Helping you to open up, allowing other near them for future relationships, whether this is for friendship or a sexual relationship So let’s start today building that positive relationship you have with YOU first right now. Book in for my ‘A Weight of your Mind’ interactive weight loss seminar at the Chequer Mead Arts Centre in East Grinstead on the 24th of September. I’m giving a free group weight loss hypnotherapy session at the end of the event. http://www.beckywells.com/a-weight-off-your-mind-at-chequer-mead.html Or come and visit me at the Sussex Women’s Show, Brighton Racecourse on the 27th to 28th September. I will also be giving two 20 minute talks at this show. For more information CLICK For bookings CLICK ![]() What an amazing night last night. Two hundred people got together to raise money for a little girl who needs an operation in the US. Organised by a godmother of Matilda, the ball was a fantastic night out. Live auctions of gifts money just can’t buy, raffles and photo-booths. All with one thing in common, they were donating their time and skills to www.walkingmatildausa.com Did we all know Matilda? I found out a lot of us did not before hearing about the events, but we had all been touched by the story and wanted to help. Would you consider helping a complete stranger? I can highly recommend it, it’s so rewarding. It doesn’t always have to cost anything, a friendly smile, a hug even the use of a friendly ear. I know some will not understand why I do it. I know that some of you have already got involved. I’ve set up a new Facebook page ‘Pay it Forward Sussex’, let’s see how far these ripples from the South can go. “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ![]() It’s so much easier to talk to people all around the world these days. Through the power of social internet sites, I regularly have simultaneous conversations with friends in Africa, Australia and the USA from the comfort of my own home. Knowing someone is just there to talk is sometimes the difference between days filled with silence, to a day feeling like you are part of a community, whether local or global. I am proud to say that the group of ladies I teach in Aqua make everyone feel part of a community. If one of them is off due to illness, someone will check and when one decides to move to another part of the world, a leaving party is always first on the agenda. You almost feel part of an extended family, nobody is judged, everyone is welcome and splashing is optional (unless you’re me apparently) Are you part of a group that wants to exercise but don’t know where? Why not speak to me about starting small exercise groups. It may not be as expensive as you think. I love to work and learn about people, I guess I am a real people watcher, constantly observing the world. So when the chance came up to learn how to make a digital camera act more like the old film cameras I jumped at it. I am lucky I have a friend who is the most amazing photographer and has worked with a number of famous individuals. She has agreed to teach me. Have a look at her photography on her website www.merrymichau.com So why can photography help me in my work? To me it’s like putting the world on freeze frame in front of you and capturing the emotions. You can look into the eyes (they say they are portals to the souls) and see that real person staring back. Watch this space for my future attempts; I fear I may have a lot of black screens before I start posting pictures. Have a hobby that you’d like to take up but maybe not the fitness, confidence or an injury that is preventing you starting? Give me a call to see how I can help. Becky www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com ![]() It was great to have the family together today for my parents’ wedding anniversary. What stood out for me was the age range of those in the room. We had the latest addition to the family who is now 6 months old and will be taking the new generation into the 22nd century no doubt, then my Nan who at 97, can tell you all about things that have happened in the last century. So in the room we have history makers that between them will cover around 200 years, maybe more, as we are living so much longer these days. I wonder how they will look back at us in the year 2013 in 20-30 years time? We look at fashion and laugh and the following year you find we’re all wearing it. What about therapies, just a few years ago people thought you only went to see a therapist if you had a serious mental health issue. Now we have come to realise it’s much better to get it sorted before it gets out of hand. As the advert always said “it’s good to talk”. I have found that a big percentage of my work in the exercise industry relied on listening to the individual in front of me and as well as changing their exercise habits, it was just as important to change the way they felt about themselves. If you want a programme that changes you inside and out, give me a call. I was beginning to feel like I’d been attached to a yo-yo. The week started off with a trip up to London, only to be told my client didn’t realise they were booked in! So I made use of the time and explore London on foot by walking back from Knightsbridge to Victoria. It’s surprising how close everything really is when you start walking. Also on a sad note for me, I lost a family pet, who had become a large part of the Wells family life. I think you only realise how much they affect you when they’re not there anymore. There’s that glance when you move the chair so as not to catch them with it, or that moment as you go to say goodbye as you walk out the door and you remember he’s not there. Who’s going to tidy the slippers left on the floor now! I was lucky enough to have had the honour to share his life and for that I will always be grateful. So what else have I been up to? This week saw me taking my second one-to-one lesson in Kung Fu with the Kung Fu School Crawley. Dave, my instructor, is very patient. I have learnt so much in the first couple of sessions. For me it’s a great new hobby. Kung Fu translates to ‘achievement of man’. It’s helping me focus on the fact that with time and energy, anything can be achieved. You may be wondering what all this has to do with hypnotherapy or the other work that I do? Hypnotherapy is one of many therapies that can help you through the stages of loss. Having someone to talk to when everything seems against you, is like trying to jump that eight foot wall but never quite reaching it, until a friendly pair of hands gives you a lift over. Learning to relax and live in the moment, rather than dwelling on a past that cannot be changed, can be a life changing experience. Let’s see what October’s got in store for us apart from Ghosts and Ghouls… Oh and of course my yearly trip out on my broomstick on the 31st! I have held my breath, shed tears of joy and sadness and smiled so much I think I could have lit up a Stadium. Well how to top that, we are all wondering now? Let’s allow that feeling to spill up over the top of the stadium and engulf the whole UK. We proved that working together is easy. Foreigners to our shores have commented on the friendliness and ease of their visit to this great Isle. So how can I follow that! My plan for the year is to make a difference, if I make a positive difference to just one person’s life; I will have succeeded. If I can help more, then everyone I see is just as important as the first. What’s planned for this week? Firstly just remembering to take a breath and enjoy breathing in the pride of the nation. These individuals we’ve watched jump, swim, run and shoot are just like YOU or I! They have trained their bodies and minds to overcome obstacles and setbacks by using these challenges to fuel their motivation to succeed. Changing yourself from the inside may not always be easy without a guiding hand. Hypnotherapy acts as that guiding hand, it reminds you, you’ve done it before and you can do it again. It helps you to grab that favourite memory you’d forgotten about from your past and helps you put it in your pocket for a rainy day. So that’s what I’ve got planned for the week. I’m going to help some individuals find that forgotten memory and store it for that rainy day in the future. What a start to summer (or glummer) as I heard it called.
Have you ever wondered what hypnotherapy can be used for? I would ask that the other way round. What can't it be used for? Weight loss is one of the areas hypnotherapy can complement and enhance other forms of training such as personal training, pilates and yoga. It gets to the the heart of the matter and can help to change years of bad habits, replacing them with positive ones. I have recently been working with several clients who, by changing their lifestyle and eating habits, lost between 10 and 17 pounds over an eight week period. Confidence and self esteem is another area where people seem to bloom steadily as the sessions progress. For me the reward of seeing someone grow is so motivational and inspires me a little bit more every time. What's planned for this week? Glamour magazine team have taken the Royal Great Parks Half Marathon challenge by the horns and are taking their training shoes all round the world. They took their Asics trainers to Australia on a photo shoot. There's dedication for you! Tuesday they are training in Berkeley Square with myself and Vicky from Matt Roberts 'Training with You'. It's going fantastically well. They've been using muscles in their bodies they didn't even know they had. I'm off to Harley Street to see clients on Thursday. Then topping the week off with a trip to Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead. I went last year for the first time and was so impressed by the events and exhibitors that I am looking forward to this year even more. In the British tradition I am going whatever the weather. That's why 'Hunters' were invented. Becky Wells becky@beckywells.com www.beckywells.com T 07801 941949 Twitter @beckyjoewells facebbok.com/beckywellslimited |
