Trying to write a blog tonight but my mind is rather blank. Do you ever have one of those days when nothing sticks and your mind appears to have come in a non-stick variety? It started to make me realise it’s a bit like our daily life. We start with a blank page and fill it with thoughts, feelings and emotions gradually throughout the day. If you could write your own page out with no restrictions I wonder what it would read like? Would you be writing about getting up at a later time than you have to? Would you be working somewhere completely different or maybe lying on a beach somewhere instead? Find a page in a diary or just a blank piece of paper. Write down your ideal day, how you’d feel, and then I challenge to do it. I know some of you have already started on them. If for some of those changes you need an extra hand, you know where I am. On this blustery January day, we see that we are being made to change a word on a fruit juice packet, probably because a committee in Europe thought it would be fun to change it. Who actually cares whether it says ‘made with’ or ‘made from’ except for the people who probably made an absolute fortune doing a 2-year study into the use of the word? Who would have actually taken any notice of it or cared? Why do we not commit our energy to making positive change to people’s long term lives, helping them to change how they feel about their community, their country and their world? What would I like to change if I was in politics? Health and wellbeing, not a study into the number of bubbles from a fizzy drinks bottle that end up tickling your nose but a study into how our communities already (yes I said already) have amazing untapped networks which, if promoted and encouraged to grow, can create so much happiness, health and well being. Funnily enough, just like the old days. Have you ever noticed how on snowy days it’s so much easier to talk to people on the street and ‘break the ice’ so to speak? People don’t want or need to be told what to do, look at all the ‘Pay it Forward’s and random acts of kindness that happen in communities. They don’t have a higher authority setting guidelines, they just put a request out to the local community and they come together, every creed, age, religion working together because they know it will make a lasting positive influence on the people’s hearts and lives that they touch. So if a politician is allowed to listen and act on the local community, change the world with kindness and make the world a healthier place for body and mind, then I’m in. If it’s to decide if the colour red is really red, then I’m washing my hair! Have you made a difference with kindness? Do you want too? I do and I am, as often as I can. Let me know on my website www.payitforwarduk.net Have a great day Becky For more information CLICK For bookings CLICK www.beckywells.com 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com I always feel like one of the ants in 'Bug’s Life' when I head up to Central London like I did today. We all pile out of the train, follow a set route down the platform, back down another set of steps, down the escalators and into a shuttle which sees us doing this all in reverse. If your tube stop is suddenly closed, you see people’s anxiety levels rise before they head off on another, yet untested, route. A bit like life really? We go to school until 16 or 18, then maybe higher education or straight into work. How can most of us know, when we choose our life’s destiny at 16, what we really want to do? Some may, but a lot of people I speak to say “I trained and worked in this job for 20 years or more”. 'Are you happy' will be my next question? 'No' is quite frequently the answer. Now in 'Bugs Life', he dares to live his dream and head off to the unknown. Now I am not saying give up safety or security. What I am saying is go and explore other options. Maybe you’re that person with low self esteem that wants to do a job that requires you to stand up and be heard or wants to lose weight to take up that dream hobby or holiday location. Hypnotherapy allows you, in a safe and secure environment, to explore what your inner self is really like, and unlocks newfound exciting parts of you, that have been subdued by your conscious mind. You will probably find, like most of my clients, they have some great conversations with yourself under hypnosis. So if you want a hand stepping of the treadmill of life, even if you use it just as form of relaxation from your everyday life, call me. You never know, you might find like many, that you open yourself up to a whole new career, I did. Take a leaf out of Flik’s book from Bug’s life. Who knows, the world may discover it’s next Picasso, Hugh Grant or Raymond Blanc just by you allowing it a glimpse into the real you. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the only one who'll decide where you'll go. Today I started to wonder how many of the things we do in our lives are habits, either bad or good, so I tried to take a mental note of all the things I did throughout the day. When I wake up in the morning I have got into the habit of looking at my mobile phone to see what the weather’s like (why don’t I look out the window like I used to?). I also see what the world’s been up to as I slept. I wonder if it actually said that the world was ending in an hour, whether I’d believe it and stay in bed for an extra hour so as to not waste my energy getting dressed. We have become so reliant on technology these days and it must affect our habits. If our sat nav says don’t go a certain way, we believe it and change direction. I like to think of hypnotherapy as a form of sat nav. You listen and observe, take in the information and then change direction to a more positive direction for you, creating a new habit for the future. So if you want to work on your internal satellite navigation system, give me a call and let’s see if we can head you off in the right direction with the least obstructions on the way. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com Do we ever really stop and listen to the people around us or are we just so involved in our own lives that we just don’t have the time? Today, as always, I talked with some great people. If you look carefully you can sometimes see the sadness behind their eyes. When someone talks to you next time, listen not only with your ears but also your eyes and heart. You might just change that person’s day. What have I been up to? Last week I was invited up to London to experience two treatments that I had never experienced before. The first was a session with David Jarvis from www.thinkpossible.co.uk. David is a movement therapist with clinics in Central and West London. He works with clients who suffer from long-term pain, who have been unable to find a solution after seeing the usual therapists. It’s an amazing concept using movement adjustment of the whole body rather than just a specific area and it’s used when treating an injury to achieve a long-term solution to pain. I was amazed after just an hour how different my body felt and how my range of movement was increased. The second session was an Ayurvedic consultation and body massage. An ancient treatment that I notice in the media the Duchess of Cornwall is trying when she recuperates in India. It’s based on an ancient Indian healing system. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was so relaxed I have no idea how I stayed awake on the train home. Jamie Chalmers, the owner of Rasyana Ayurvedic www.rasayana.co.uk, sent a report about me the following day. I discovered that my Dosha (one of three bodily humors that make up one's constitution) was Pitta (controls digestion, metabolism, and energy production) and I scored 21 on my Sattvic (pure mind) score. Apparently one of the highest scores he’d ever seen. I can recommend both experiences if you are based in or visiting London or Edinburgh. Today I met up with a lovely lady called Lindsay who, along with the rest of her family, is raising money for Matilda, their two-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. She can have an operation to help her walk if they can raise £70,000. I have donated a crystal for them to auction later in the year and will continue to help them until they reach their goal. Their website is www.walkingmatildausa.com. Every penny helps. I look forward to seeing Matilda in her sparkly shoes once she’s had the operation. What’s planned for the rest of the week? Well I have two Halloween aqua parties lined up on Wednesday that will hopefully raise money for Matilda. Who knows what other mischief I’ll get up to? It’s the week for ghosts, ghouls and little gremlins like me! Of course on Wednesday night I’ll be busy on my broomstick! Happy Halloween everyone, stay safe if you’re trick or treating. Why not book an appointment with me at my Harley Street clinic or in one of my clinics down in Sussex. For hypnotherapy, sports massage and personal training appointments please contact me on any of the contact details below. I look forward to hearing from you. I was beginning to feel like I’d been attached to a yo-yo. The week started off with a trip up to London, only to be told my client didn’t realise they were booked in! So I made use of the time and explore London on foot by walking back from Knightsbridge to Victoria. It’s surprising how close everything really is when you start walking. Also on a sad note for me, I lost a family pet, who had become a large part of the Wells family life. I think you only realise how much they affect you when they’re not there anymore. There’s that glance when you move the chair so as not to catch them with it, or that moment as you go to say goodbye as you walk out the door and you remember he’s not there. Who’s going to tidy the slippers left on the floor now! I was lucky enough to have had the honour to share his life and for that I will always be grateful. So what else have I been up to? This week saw me taking my second one-to-one lesson in Kung Fu with the Kung Fu School Crawley. Dave, my instructor, is very patient. I have learnt so much in the first couple of sessions. For me it’s a great new hobby. Kung Fu translates to ‘achievement of man’. It’s helping me focus on the fact that with time and energy, anything can be achieved. You may be wondering what all this has to do with hypnotherapy or the other work that I do? Hypnotherapy is one of many therapies that can help you through the stages of loss. Having someone to talk to when everything seems against you, is like trying to jump that eight foot wall but never quite reaching it, until a friendly pair of hands gives you a lift over. Learning to relax and live in the moment, rather than dwelling on a past that cannot be changed, can be a life changing experience. Let’s see what October’s got in store for us apart from Ghosts and Ghouls… Oh and of course my yearly trip out on my broomstick on the 31st! For hypnotherapy, sports massage and personal training appointments please contact me via any of the details below. I look forward to hearing from you. There is nothing like swimming with thousands of fish, rays and sharks to make you realise how close we really are to nature, or riding a coaster which takes you through various g-forces! Where is your favourite place to relax? Some may find it’s the beach, others a room in their own home. When I see clients for hypnotherapy I use their favourite resting place to increase their relaxed state. My favourite is a sandy beach with my toes just by the edge of the water and the waves almost tickling my toes as they’re gently drawn back into the sea. Do you find it hard to relax? Hypnotherapy can show you how to relax. I work with many individuals who, due to work stress, home stress or just plan stress, just can’t relax. Their bodies just go into a vicious circle. They are unable to sleep due to thoughts in their heads, then unable to work effectively due to insomnia. Hypnotherapy can help put them back in control of their thoughts. Most people I’ve seen for hypnotherapy say they get the best night’s sleep ever following the session. You’d think I’d not been up to much else whilst lazing on loungers and riding rollercoasters. Bet while I was away and after email conversations with Charley Johnson, the President of the Global Pay it Forward Foundation, (www.pifexperience.org) I have now set up a ‘Pay it Forward’ UK group. What is ‘Pay it Forward’? Years ago I watched a film called ‘Pay it Forward’. It was based on a true story of a social studies class that was set an assignment to change the world. One of the young class members decided his project was to be to ‘Pay it Forward’. Do a good deed for three people and instead of expecting a reward you ask them each to ‘Pay it Forward’ to three more people and so it continues like a small ripple getting bigger and bigger. Charley Johnson has taken it one step further by offering a bracelet as a reminder of the deed; we will have 10,000 of these in the UK soon. If you are an individual or a company interested in sponsoring the bracelets in the UK please contact me through my web page www.payitforwarduk.net Don’t forget to let us know your PIF experience when giving and receiving apart from the web page you can also follow us on twitter at https://twitter.com/payitforwarduk Don’t forget to use hashtag #pifuk when tweeting about your ‘Pay it Forward’ experience or email us at payitforwarduk@beckywells.com. What’s in the diary for my first week back? On Monday I’m taking up a new hobby, I’ll leave it till the next blog to tell you all about that. I’m off to see five new personal training clients in Knightsbridge on Monday evening. Then Thursday hopefully will be meeting up with one of the board members from the Pay It Forward foundation. For hypnotherapy, sports massage and personal training appointments please contact me via any of the details below. I look forward to hearing from you. Becky Director - Becky Wells Limited Ground Floor, No 2 Harley Street London W1 United Kingdom Website: www.BeckyWells.com Twitter: @beckyjoewells Contact telephone number +44 7801 941949 Subscribe to my newsletters at http://eepurl.com/n8Svf Have you ever seen the film 'Pay it Forward'? I was surprised how many people hadn't when I started to talk about it. It is basically about how one good deed deserves another but rather than returning the good deed to the same person, you suggest they do a good deed for someone else. Therefore you 'Pay it Forward'.
Little did I know until the other day that there is a 'Pay it Forward' Foundation. When I described how I'd done such a deed and tweeted about it. I was amazed and extremely honoured to get a message from Charley Johnson, the head of the pif foundation www.pifexperience.org. Let's get 'pif' rippling out across the UK. Just make one kind gesture and watch the ripple grow! Things have been steady growing work-wise and I can't believe it's been two months since I started the company! I'm looking into setting up a training branch at the moment and I have a meeting set up to discuss international clinics. I already have two people on a waiting list even though it's still only a thought in my head at the moment. There are lots of hypnotherapy clients booked in this week. I think they are all trying to squeeze in before my holiday! What's planned for the rest of the week? Thursday I'm up at my Harley Street clinic. Some of the Glamour magazine team are booked in for sports massage as their weekly mileage increases in preparation for the Great Parks half marathon. Their muscles are starting to wonder what's hit them! This is my 'Pay it Forward' moment this week. I have asked them, rather than paying me, to make a donation to MIND - the charity they are running the half marathon for. MIND can then use the money to help many individuals with mental health issues. And the ripple goes on! Don't forget to watch out for my new advert in Sussex Living this month. I have held my breath, shed tears of joy and sadness and smiled so much I think I could have lit up a Stadium. Well how to top that, we are all wondering now? Let’s allow that feeling to spill up over the top of the stadium and engulf the whole UK. We proved that working together is easy. Foreigners to our shores have commented on the friendliness and ease of their visit to this great Isle. So how can I follow that! My plan for the year is to make a difference, if I make a positive difference to just one person’s life; I will have succeeded. If I can help more, then everyone I see is just as important as the first. What’s planned for this week? Firstly just remembering to take a breath and enjoy breathing in the pride of the nation. These individuals we’ve watched jump, swim, run and shoot are just like YOU or I! They have trained their bodies and minds to overcome obstacles and setbacks by using these challenges to fuel their motivation to succeed. Changing yourself from the inside may not always be easy without a guiding hand. Hypnotherapy acts as that guiding hand, it reminds you, you’ve done it before and you can do it again. It helps you to grab that favourite memory you’d forgotten about from your past and helps you put it in your pocket for a rainy day. So that’s what I’ve got planned for the week. I’m going to help some individuals find that forgotten memory and store it for that rainy day in the future. Has the year been full of every emotion possible? Do you find yourself saying '2012 will be the best yet'? If we had not experienced all these emotions: sadness, joy, loneliness, excitement, what would the year have been filled with? Do we not learn from every situation we encounter? So what have I learned in 2011 that will make me a stronger indivdual? I've learnt to: Dream - I had always dreamt that I would run my own business and 2011 has seen that first step up that metaphorical ladder. It's become a reality as I reduced my hours with my regular job to concentrate on building up my own business. Madness, some may say in this current climate. I know that with hard work I can achieve anything I want to. I just need to be honest to myself, and absorb all that comes my way. Opportunity - We make opportunities by learning to say 'why not'. At the start of this year I would never have dreamed that I would be featured in a magazine and then offered the chance to write for that magazine on a regular basis. I get to write about something I am passionate about 'Health and its psychological and physiological effects'. Who'd have thought the person who left school not understanding the meaning of a full stop would be doing this. Inspiration - I have been inspired by many people throughout this year. My family of course are my heart and soul. My parents, sister and close family never judging, always supoorting and protecting me. My four legged friends who listen unconditionally, who know when to comfort, and guarantee to make me smile, even on the gloomiest of days. My friends whether virtual (e.g. facebook) or those all around me, all inspiring me with their stories, strengths and experiences. Without each and every one, I would not have learnt a valuable lesson. You're wondering if I mean you personally? Yes I do! (and if you wonder how, just ask me). Time - Always having time to listen, always having time to make a difference to someone. Even if it's only to have a 5 minute chat with them, or something as simple as a smile or kind word to a stranger that passes you or who can't reach that tin on the shelf in a supermarket. It may feel like a small gesture to you but to them , it lets them know someone is thinking of them. How many times have you thought 'I wish I'd'...?, I challenge you from this moment forward to be able to say 'I'm glad I did....' So with this D.O. I.T. attitude I don't resolve to make 2012 the best year ever. I resolve to thrive on the challenges that are set by and for me. I resolve to say 'Why not!' at every opportunity. I resolve that if I can make life that little bit better by just being there, then I will. But most of all I resolve to be ME and to let every new experience enhance who I already am. Happy New Year to you, your friends and family. Becky x |
