Well the last few weeks have all been about marathons and I don’t mean the ones surrounded by chocolate. This weekend we had the Brighton and Paris marathon, next weekend we’ve got the London one. Clients have been coming in by the leg load! The one thing I’ve noticed from talking to a large majority of them is how little warm up or stretching they do before a long run. This can lead to muscle and ligament injuries when at this stage they have been doing high mileage. If you’re not sure which ones to do, ask a trainer to take you through a routine or email me.
Should you have a cold or hot bath at the end of a long run? Getting in a hot bath will increase blood flow to the area; a cool bath will dilate the blood vessels making the muscles feel less sore. It has not been proven if it speeds recovery though. I guess I’ll find out in a few weeks’ time when I turn into one of those mad runners and attempt the Sussex Living Mid Sussex marathon over the May bank holiday weekend. Hypnotherapy appointments are keeping me extremely busy along with the massaging. I have just booked myself on a workshop / lecture in London with the amazing Dr Brian Weiss from the USA, his book on past life regression hypnotherapy has had me mesmerised for years, so I look forward to attending the day with a couple of others. Monday morning I’m off to my regular chat with Mark on the Meridian 107FM breakfast show and then it’s been a non-stop week of appointments getting everyone ready for the London marathon. Listen out for me on the Breakfast show Meridian 107FM, the Local Community radio station in East Grinstead, on Monday mornings after 9am.
