Many of you know I live my life in a Pay it Forward way but for my 40th Birthday I decided to do an extra Pay it Forward as part of my birthday celebrations.  

1. A party for my friends not on my birthday but on an unbirthday when the order of the day was laughter, fun and friendship.
2. Flowers for the girls who organised the props
3. Chocolate Bouquet for Emma my PA
4. A Thank you card and cake to the staff at Tulley’s Farm
5. An extra special invite to Ben my friends little boy, who came and tested out the equipment before the party started and sang me a lovely happy birthday song
6. Choccywoccydoodah Cake to the local hospital that my Mum works at
7. Also cake to a local company that my Dad works at
8. Saved the best chocolate parts for my family. The Queen of Hearts for my Mum and Teapot and Dormouse for my Sister
9. Leftover lollipops are heading off to a local special needs school fair this weekend
10. The boiled sweet jar is heading to a local Age Concern home.
11. The candy necklaces will be donated to a local children’s charity too
12. Old clothes were taken to a charity shop
13. My canine Pay it Forward was to take the dog for an extra long 5 mile walk
14. Bought a smoothie for a friend
15. Held the door open for someone who was quite a way behind me
16. Explained to a friend how to use an application on a mobile phone
17. Gave out Pay it Forward wristbands at the party
18. Opened a free sweet shop at the party for all the guests to help themselves to the pick and mix
19. Raffled a giant rabbit off for Make a Wish at my party
20. Sent a message to a friend abroad just to say hello and that I wish them well
21. Dropped off toys at a charity shop
22. Bought an inspirational quote present, for a friend who doesn’t know how special she is
23. Smiled at everyone even strangers
24. Had flowers delivered to a client’s house whose birthday is the same day as mine
25. Anonymously sent a voucher for someone to enjoy a treat on me
26. Left a £1 in a vending machine for someone to have a treat on me
27. Left a token in a locker at the local gym for the next person
28. Put a lottery ticket in a couple of places for people to enjoy a treat with a request to Pay it Forward if they win.
29. Tipped the server at the restaurant with an extra tip
30. Inspired someone to give something a go that they’d never tried before
31. Bought a large 8ft paddling pool and ball pit for my niece to use as she grows
32. Gave a tub of sweet necklaces to a swim school teacher for her end of term party
33. Left a £1 coin in a shopping trolley for the next person
34. Gave a extra tip to my hairdresser 
35. Offered my seat to another person at a party
36. Wrote several reviews on businesses website complimenting their services
37. Chatted with a stranger and encouraged them to be more confident 
38. Took cake in for a coffee morning with my favourite aqua ladies.
39. Inspired a person to further their career
40. Bought a healthy nutrition lunch for a friend as a surprise.

Eight months in the planning for my 40th and the big day finally arrived. My Mad Hatter Tea Party was the social event of the year and one not to be missed.
Not one for being the centre of attention and certainly not one for surprises, I decided to plan the party myself and taking the limelight was the cake.

Back in November I met with the choccywoccydoodah team and designed my perfect Mad Hatter’s Tea Party cake. The chocolate was picked, the design was finalized – the party was then designed to fit around the masterpiece.

A chance meeting at a networking event got us in touch with the guardian angels from Not Just For Hire. Sara and Amanda got the theme straight away and had so many ideas to make the party simply amazing.

Tulleys Farm, being just down the road from me, provided the perfect venue. With its spacious barn, ample outside space and a great team to assist with the finer details, the party planning was off to a great start.
Invitations sent and fancy dress costumes made it was just a case of waiting for the date to come around. Amanda and Sara had it all in hand, making the planning on my part minimal and completely stress less.


July the 5th finally came round and it’s Action Stations.


Haybale sofas, mismatched tables and chairs and crockery, bird cages, toadstools, giant rabbits and much more, was elegantly dressing the barn. DJ and photo booth (care of Victoria Lily) in place it was nearly time to put on the dancing shoes.

One final thing to set the stage ... the cake !

Central to the room and the first thing the guests would see, was a white chocolate dream. Mice in tea pots, looking glasses and a Cheshire Cat, roses and watches it was stunning. The team at choccy had really outdone themselves.


Enter the guests and the madness really began.

The night was kicked off with some serious big kid time. Bouncy castles, trampolines and inflatable slides. A few casualties later and it was time to party. Mum said bruises were a sign you’ve had a good time!
Back in the barn it was time to get the dancing shoes on. One last formality, the cutting of the cake, although everyone wanted it to stay intact …. but I’m not sure anybody expected the chainsaw!
Dancing followed – some brilliant moves by Dad and all the classics came on.

It was a night to remember and one never to forget.
