The countdown has begun. This is the final week I work as an employee. From next week I am the employer!
This is the start of something amazing and I really can't wait to set out on this whole new adventure. So what have I been up to last week? Well on Tuesday I headed up to Central London to work with Vicky from Matt Robert's team, who are running the 'Training with You" programme in association with Conviviality. We are working with Glamour Magazine as they tone, train and test their bodies in a build up to their first half marathon at the Great Parks run. They are running in aid of MIND, a charity which helps individuals with mental illness by offering support, advice and just letting them know someone cares. You can follow Team Glamour's training blog here As hypnotherapy is my main line of work alongside Personal Training I know all to well how important it is knowing you're not alone in troubled times. The reason I became a hypnotherapist as well as a Personal Trainer is that I wanted to take training people to a whole new depth. It's all very well training your body but with a well balanced mind your training can be awesome, as they say in the USA! I had a client a few years ago who when I first met them could only walk five minutes on a treadmill and was extremely unconfident. Now she has run 10 miles in an hour and a half and is so much more confident in herself. Her story inspired me to get to where I am today. Now I want to inspire others to do the same, which is why for me there is no bog standard training session, everyone needs that magic ingredient to gain their fullest potential. I've been working with another group on the Matt Roberts 'Training with You' programme more locally in Hassocks. They've all stormed off to an amazing start in the first week losing inches and reducing body fat percentage. They are a great group to work with and I look forward to working with them for the next few weeks. What's planned for the following week? I pick up the keys to the room I'm using at No.1 -7 Harley Street this week and you can now book directly with me for a session there. Tuesday I'm off to London to train the Glamour magazine team in Berkeley Square. Thursday I'm off to London to a Women in Business meeting in Shoreditch. Thought it might be a great way to get to know more people as my business is expanding to Central London.

Monday morning I was up bright and early and off to the Meridian 107 FM studios in East Grinstead to take part in the Breakfast show I sponsor with presenter Mark Dodson. I invited ‘Jane Pattenden’ a friend and fellow trainer to talk about her new qualification in ‘Hypopresive Training’. She put Mark through his paces but having man flu didn’t help him. Thursday I went up to number 1 Harley Street to view a new therapy room to rent, which I am hoping to rent through the Harley Street Therapy centre. The room I have chosen has the most amazing view over the start of Harley Street and down to the Coutts building opposite. I am hoping it will be all up and running within a month. I am busy exploring all the amazing outcomes you can achieve from using hypnotherapy. It’s so inspiring to help someone take control back of their own future in such a positive way, that they feel completely in control of. What’s planned for this week? I’m off to the radio station Monday morning presuming I can get through all the road works in East Grinstead which is a challenge in itself! I’m looking forward to catching up with all my clients to hear about how much they’ve achieved since I last saw them. Has the year been full of every emotion possible? Do you find yourself saying '2012 will be the best yet'? If we had not experienced all these emotions: sadness, joy, loneliness, excitement, what would the year have been filled with? Do we not learn from every situation we encounter? So what have I learned in 2011 that will make me a stronger indivdual? I've learnt to: Dream - I had always dreamt that I would run my own business and 2011 has seen that first step up that metaphorical ladder. It's become a reality as I reduced my hours with my regular job to concentrate on building up my own business. Madness, some may say in this current climate. I know that with hard work I can achieve anything I want to. I just need to be honest to myself, and absorb all that comes my way. Opportunity - We make opportunities by learning to say 'why not'. At the start of this year I would never have dreamed that I would be featured in a magazine and then offered the chance to write for that magazine on a regular basis. I get to write about something I am passionate about 'Health and its psychological and physiological effects'. Who'd have thought the person who left school not understanding the meaning of a full stop would be doing this. Inspiration - I have been inspired by many people throughout this year. My family of course are my heart and soul. My parents, sister and close family never judging, always supoorting and protecting me. My four legged friends who listen unconditionally, who know when to comfort, and guarantee to make me smile, even on the gloomiest of days. My friends whether virtual (e.g. facebook) or those all around me, all inspiring me with their stories, strengths and experiences. Without each and every one, I would not have learnt a valuable lesson. You're wondering if I mean you personally? Yes I do! (and if you wonder how, just ask me). Time - Always having time to listen, always having time to make a difference to someone. Even if it's only to have a 5 minute chat with them, or something as simple as a smile or kind word to a stranger that passes you or who can't reach that tin on the shelf in a supermarket. It may feel like a small gesture to you but to them , it lets them know someone is thinking of them. How many times have you thought 'I wish I'd'...?, I challenge you from this moment forward to be able to say 'I'm glad I did....' So with this D.O. I.T. attitude I don't resolve to make 2012 the best year ever. I resolve to thrive on the challenges that are set by and for me. I resolve to say 'Why not!' at every opportunity. I resolve that if I can make life that little bit better by just being there, then I will. But most of all I resolve to be ME and to let every new experience enhance who I already am. Happy New Year to you, your friends and family. Becky x |
