A lot of us keep our bodies healthy by going to the gym, do you ever consider doing the same for your mind? When I ask my Nan whose 3 years short of becoming a Centenarian what the secret of life is, she usually just smiles and says she’s lived healthily and kept active in ways she found enjoyable. She hasn’t indulged in any self-destructive habits, although she used to have the odd drink, and still enjoys a healthy mix of whole foods. She accepts change and although picking up new technology is beyond her, she marvels at all around her that use it. She embraces life and it embraces her back. Although, like most people, she still feels like she has the mind of a much younger person, the muscles occasionally tell her they’ve had 97 years use, normally when she’s been chopping down trees or moving furniture. So why not get your mind fit as well as those muscles. Come and have a chat with me let’s see if we can get your positive mind active and into full flow. I like to think of my change in career from employee to being my own boss, like the journey of a mighty oak tree. Last year, in June, I planted an acorn into the universe when I set up Becky Wells Limited. Over the past six months I have been feeding it and nurturing it, helping it to start from a strong foundation. In the last couple of months I have really started to see the roots start to stretch out, testing unknown grounds, some never making it further than a few yards, others continually expanding. Each root, even if it doesn’t survive, provides feedback for me on routes to avoid or to take extra care of in the future. Now that the roots have firmly taken hold in the ground, I look forward to watching this tree grow into a mighty oak. As it grows it will provide shelter and energy for others and that, to me, is just as important as having something that can last for many years to come. So if you want to spin a web on my tree to give yourself a rest, or just climb aboard for help looking into your future from my top branches, then feel free to grab a branch and enjoy the view with me. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 Becky@beckywells.com “Let me look upward into the branches of the flowering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well.” On this blustery January day, we see that we are being made to change a word on a fruit juice packet, probably because a committee in Europe thought it would be fun to change it. Who actually cares whether it says ‘made with’ or ‘made from’ except for the people who probably made an absolute fortune doing a 2-year study into the use of the word? Who would have actually taken any notice of it or cared? Why do we not commit our energy to making positive change to people’s long term lives, helping them to change how they feel about their community, their country and their world? What would I like to change if I was in politics? Health and wellbeing, not a study into the number of bubbles from a fizzy drinks bottle that end up tickling your nose but a study into how our communities already (yes I said already) have amazing untapped networks which, if promoted and encouraged to grow, can create so much happiness, health and well being. Funnily enough, just like the old days. Have you ever noticed how on snowy days it’s so much easier to talk to people on the street and ‘break the ice’ so to speak? People don’t want or need to be told what to do, look at all the ‘Pay it Forward’s and random acts of kindness that happen in communities. They don’t have a higher authority setting guidelines, they just put a request out to the local community and they come together, every creed, age, religion working together because they know it will make a lasting positive influence on the people’s hearts and lives that they touch. So if a politician is allowed to listen and act on the local community, change the world with kindness and make the world a healthier place for body and mind, then I’m in. If it’s to decide if the colour red is really red, then I’m washing my hair! Have you made a difference with kindness? Do you want too? I do and I am, as often as I can. When I wake up in the morning I have got into the habit of looking at my mobile phone to see what the weather’s like (why don’t I look out the window like I used to?). I also see what the world’s been up to as I slept. I wonder if it actually said that the world was ending in an hour, whether I’d believe it and stay in bed for an extra hour so as to not waste my energy getting dressed. We have become so reliant on technology these days and it must affect our habits. If our sat nav says don’t go a certain way, we believe it and change direction. I like to think of hypnotherapy as a form of sat nav. You listen and observe, take in the information and then change direction to a more positive direction for you, creating a new habit for the future. So if you want to work on your internal satellite navigation system, give me a call and let’s see if we can head you off in the right direction with the least obstructions on the way. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com Do you have a special person in your life? Are you already preparing for next month’s special day? I imagine the shops are already stocked full of the cards! According to statistics the number of people getting married for the first time in their 40s has double in the first few years. Are we all to busy enjoying life? I’m heading at a rapid speed towards that milestone, I’m going to make the most of my 38/39th year before the BIG 40 bites me on the bum next year. I was sitting drink coffee this morning at my favourite coffee shop haunt in East Grinstead quietly reading my magazine. The hustle and bustle of people coming and going is fascinating to me. Coffee shops like this one are hubs. You have such an amazing mix of people passing through even in the hour I’d been sitting there. You have the family who start their day with a coffee before heading off to do battle with the shops. The young mums meeting up to share there stories about what’s been going and also more importantly a time for them to share problems with a friendly ear. The businessmen and women who pop in for a quick shot of coffee to boost them before a day of marketing, selling or what ever business they are involved in. There is always a warm welcoming feeling and the owner always makes you feel welcome. I have to say I do have to urge to have a go in the Play area some days! Are you a grab and go type of person, or do you sit and put the world to rights over you soy cappuccino or latte? You’ll never feel lonely in this coffee shop. You never know you might just start up a conversation with Mr or Miss Right if you’re single! Grab a coffee, a tea or a hot chocolate. It’s for me something that starts my week off on the right foot before the real fun begins. You never know you might just bump into me! If you’re not confident enough to just walk into a coffee shop, why not contact me and see how I can help build your self esteem up! Becky 07801 941949 www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net Becky@beckywells.com "Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love." How many of you have stuck to your New Years resolutions? In fact how many of you actually made any? Were your resolutions to further yourself or to help others? I was just looking through comments on Facebook this weekend. A lot of people are quick to judge and very few offer alternative solutions. Have you ever thought about being part of the answer rather than leaving it to someone else. This weekend I watched a ‘YouTube’ video about a group of guys who whilst drinking at a bar used the offer of a beer and pizza to feed the homeless on the beach. They still got to enjoy their afternoon and also spread kindness to the less fortunate. I know in February a group are going to pack bags and take them out to the homeless in London. But my challenge to you is for the next time you walk past a homeless person. Just remember they are human beings, they just lost their way at some point, and don’t pity them, they don’t want this. If you can help, maybe by leaving them one of your unused blankets or a food parcel, you’d be surprised what a difference you could make. It’s turning wintery soon, that extra blanket or food might just make those freezing temperatures a little more bearable! As the saying goes “Be the change you want to see in the world.”- Gandhi So my resolution is to be part of the change, I want to be there as it grows from this small acorn to a mighty oak! Becky www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 Becky@beckywells.com Have you ever dreamed of being able to dip your hand in that pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, or heading through a field of clover and finding the elusive four leaved one? How many of you realise that a pot of gold or a four leaved clover are actually part of you already? Now you may be wondering what I mean by this. You already own the most amazing gifts called your heart and your brain. These two resources can lead you wherever you desire to go. You just need to listen to them. So let me give you an example. Have you ever been walking round a supermarket and noticed a person struggling to reach something high up? Did you instinctively go over to help? Or did you just carry on because you were in a rush or too nervous to offer to help in case they were offended? Every time I would offer to help. The worst they can say to me is 'no'. The best is to start a conversation with someone who may not have spoken to anyone all day and was beginning to wonder if anyone cared. You can make a difference to someone with such a small act of kindness. And it makes you feel good. It empowers you to know that you are a catalyst to a positive future for yourself and whoever steps in your rainbow. I dare you tomorrow to make a difference to a stranger. Pay it forward www.payitforwarduk.com Becky Wells 07801 941949 Becky@beckywells.com www.BeckyWells.com Well we didn’t have five gold rings last year but the five rings that featured heavily in the news definitely brought a lot of golds home to the Great British team. How do they achieve such amazing feats of athleticism and stamina? Well generally a lot of hard work and a great support team around them. Do you have to be a top athlete or celebrity to have that type of help? The answer is definitely NO. There are Personal Trainers, Sports Therapists, Hypnotherapists and sports coaches all around your area. You just have to Google these days to find them or ask for a recommendation from a friend or family member. I am trained in all three which allows me to take someone from maybe an unfit, unmotivated or even unsure to wherever their hearts and minds want to lead them. I like to think of myself as a stepping-stone helping them along the way. If I can’t help I will always try to recommend someone who can. If you would like a helping hand along that path, why not give me a call and see if I can help you on your journey. As Lao Tzu said “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Becky www.BeckyWells.com + 44 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com Have you ever seen the film 'Pay it Forward'? I was surprised how many people hadn't when I started to talk about it. It is basically about how one good deed deserves another but rather than returning the good deed to the same person, you suggest they do a good deed for someone else. Therefore you 'Pay it Forward'.
Little did I know until the other day that there is a 'Pay it Forward' Foundation. When I described how I'd done such a deed and tweeted about it. I was amazed and extremely honoured to get a message from Charley Johnson, the head of the pif foundation www.pifexperience.org. Let's get 'pif' rippling out across the UK. Just make one kind gesture and watch the ripple grow! Things have been steady growing work-wise and I can't believe it's been two months since I started the company! I'm looking into setting up a training branch at the moment and I have a meeting set up to discuss international clinics. I already have two people on a waiting list even though it's still only a thought in my head at the moment. There are lots of hypnotherapy clients booked in this week. I think they are all trying to squeeze in before my holiday! What's planned for the rest of the week? Thursday I'm up at my Harley Street clinic. Some of the Glamour magazine team are booked in for sports massage as their weekly mileage increases in preparation for the Great Parks half marathon. Their muscles are starting to wonder what's hit them! This is my 'Pay it Forward' moment this week. I have asked them, rather than paying me, to make a donation to MIND - the charity they are running the half marathon for. MIND can then use the money to help many individuals with mental health issues. And the ripple goes on! Don't forget to watch out for my new advert in Sussex Living this month. It’s been a great mixture of Hypnotherapy, Personal Training, and Sports Massage. I’ve had a steady stream of new clients throughout July that has kept me from sunbathing too much (or was that the lack of sun!). I’m just finished working with Glamour magazine, taking them through a 7 week Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ programme. On the final week Matt Roberts joined us in Berkeley Square for circuits and the photo shoot. I will miss going up to there on a Tuesday evening and working with such a highly motivated team. Glamour magazine are running the Great Parks Run in Oct for MIND, please sponsor them here http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=GLAMOUR&isTeam=true Harley Street is really starting to pick up now as my profile page is up on the Harley Street Therapy Centres website here http://www.harleystreettherapycentre.co.uk/83/BeckyWells.html. I’m looking forward to meeting new clients up there this week. I had my first international client this week and still have ambitions to take my skills abroad. What’s planned for this week? Monday I’m off to Tulley’s Farm to attempt not to get lost in the Angry Birds maze. So if you don’t see any more blogs, send a search party. Tuesday I have an audition for a TV programme but it’s top secret and you’ll just have to wait and see what that’s all about. The rest of the week is filled with appointments, and maybe the odd time watching an hour or six of the Olympics! So you’ve got your bikinis, suntan cream and suitcase. Have you booked your ‘Training with You’ programme with me to get your beach body or set up a time to have hypnotherapy to build up that confidence or lose weight with the power of your subconscious? If not why not, give me a call, I promise I do not have a swinging pendulum or swirling eyes!!
