On this blustery January day, we see that we are being made to change a word on a fruit juice packet, probably because a committee in Europe thought it would be fun to change it. Who actually cares whether it says ‘made with’ or ‘made from’ except for the people who probably made an absolute fortune doing a 2-year study into the use of the word? Who would have actually taken any notice of it or cared? Why do we not commit our energy to making positive change to people’s long term lives, helping them to change how they feel about their community, their country and their world? What would I like to change if I was in politics? Health and wellbeing, not a study into the number of bubbles from a fizzy drinks bottle that end up tickling your nose but a study into how our communities already (yes I said already) have amazing untapped networks which, if promoted and encouraged to grow, can create so much happiness, health and well being. Funnily enough, just like the old days. Have you ever noticed how on snowy days it’s so much easier to talk to people on the street and ‘break the ice’ so to speak? People don’t want or need to be told what to do, look at all the ‘Pay it Forward’s and random acts of kindness that happen in communities. They don’t have a higher authority setting guidelines, they just put a request out to the local community and they come together, every creed, age, religion working together because they know it will make a lasting positive influence on the people’s hearts and lives that they touch. So if a politician is allowed to listen and act on the local community, change the world with kindness and make the world a healthier place for body and mind, then I’m in. If it’s to decide if the colour red is really red, then I’m washing my hair! Have you made a difference with kindness? Do you want too? I do and I am, as often as I can. I was listening to the local radio station this morning and they were talking about how, as we get older, we lose that childhood magic that encourages us to go out rollerskating, playing hide and seek in the local woods and leap frogging over the bollards. The radio station said ‘we all feel as we get old we need to grow up’. Someone forgot to tell me. Some of my friends see me as a 21st century Peter Pan. Does that bother me? No. I’m pleased. I hope that having magic in my life gives people a sprinkle of fairy dust to go and do the same. I went out rollerskating the other day with a friend and felt the same excitement that I did 20 years ago. If my friends’ kids ask me to play hide and seek, I am the first to climb in the washing basket to hide. That Peter Pan spirit is what has lead me on my amazing journey. How many of you have wished upon that second star to the right? I wished, I flew and I’ve been there and done that and I’ll probably head back to Neverland several times this year taking a few friends along the way. So if you want to go a round of ‘follow my leader’ with me, let me unlock your inner child. Mine is an Elf and a cheeky one at that. So grab my hand, a quick sprinkle of Tinkerbell’s dust, and we’ll be off. It got me thinking about how many times in life we take these types of risk anyway. A lot of the time I would guess! How many times have you bought something unseen from the Internet because the offer seems so good, or maybe you’ve changed careers from a well-paid job to a voluntary or low income job? Was it a risk? Maybe? Yes? Probably? But does this stop you? I decided several years ago that life is worth living to its fullest. When I was 18 I had major surgery on my back, which prevented me from doing what I thought was my dream job. Once I’d got myself back to full fitness, both physically and mentally, I realised I could do anything I like, if I put my mind to it. I also chose to resign from a well-paid government job and take up a job that paid half what I was getting. Now after several years, I have the most amazing career and I get to do something I love, helping others. Ten to fifteen years ago therapy was seen as something strange and maybe to some it still is. Personally I would never be afraid of going to see a therapist if I had worries. In fact the hypnotherapy register I belong to actively encourages its members to have regular sessions with other therapists. If you’re sitting there juggling two metaphorical boxes in front of you, why not give me a call to see if I can help you. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com For more information CLICK For bookings CLICK Today I started to wonder how many of the things we do in our lives are habits, either bad or good, so I tried to take a mental note of all the things I did throughout the day. When I wake up in the morning I have got into the habit of looking at my mobile phone to see what the weather’s like (why don’t I look out the window like I used to?). I also see what the world’s been up to as I slept. I wonder if it actually said that the world was ending in an hour, whether I’d believe it and stay in bed for an extra hour so as to not waste my energy getting dressed. We have become so reliant on technology these days and it must affect our habits. If our sat nav says don’t go a certain way, we believe it and change direction. I like to think of hypnotherapy as a form of sat nav. You listen and observe, take in the information and then change direction to a more positive direction for you, creating a new habit for the future. So if you want to work on your internal satellite navigation system, give me a call and let’s see if we can head you off in the right direction with the least obstructions on the way. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com I’m sure with all this wintery weather a lot of you will be stripping off the layers of clothing you’ve been carrying around all day? I like to think of hypnotherapy as stripping away the layers of habits, learnt behaviours and other issues that have built up over time, years maybe in some of the cases I’ve seen. It’s almost like we keep placing another jumper on top of the one we’re wearing. So what do I mean? Well the best way to allow you to see what I mean is to take you through a case study. So let’s take stopping smoking as an example. The base layer of smoking to me is a deep-seated need from past behaviours. Some may have started to smoke at school or watched parents or relatives do the same. It has become that comfort layer close to our body we need (or think we need). Next comes the mid layer that keeps you warm, the fleece layer. This to me is like the comfort level, the one that makes you feel better. Getting out of an uncomfortable situation by ‘going for a cigarette’. Finally comes the insulation layer, the outer layer. This is just like you wearing a certain jacket if you know it’s going to get cold. You build up the behaviour of having a cigarette at certain points on a journey or at certain times of day. So how will I help to you to change the outfit you wear? I will use hypnotherapy with a perfect mix of my other skills to adjust each layer to a perfect outfit for you. I’ll help take those old and comfy base layers off and let your subconscious pick the one that’s the perfect fit for you. I’ll maybe show how the old one probably had a few holes in you hadn’t even spotted. Next, with a mix of hypnotherapy with counselling (or talking) as I prefer to know it, I will help you realise that the comfy layer was not the best fit and work with you to find a fit you would be proud to show off. This may be working on your self-esteem or self-confidence to deal with the situations that drove you to smoke. Finally we will deal with the outer layer. This uses my skills as hypnotherapist but also my previous training in health and sports therapy, helping you to changing the way you live your day-to-day life. So with smoking it may be just asking you to change a route you take to work, as many smokers I’ve talked to smoke at particular points on their journeys. Each layer is just as important as the next to deal with. And look at the rewards and health risks. Smoking 15-20 cigarettes apparently costs around £2500 per year, which could be an amazing holiday fund. Have you ever looked into what’s inside cigarettes to make them so addictive? I challenge you to search on the Internet and see if you would eat the raw ingredients if they were put in front of you and roll them up and smoke them. I am guessing not, I was surprised what was in them, not that nice! If you want to give up and stop sending your wages up in smoke, let me help YOU find that new non-smoking outfit. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforward.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com Sussex, and probably most of the UK, has a glow tonight as the whiteness of the snow lights up the usually dark night. I love the glow at night. It has that almost mystical feel. How many of you went out and enjoyed the weather today? I went out and took some pictures of the amazing countryside and wildlife around us. You can find some of them on my twitter feed @beckyjoewells Vistas, which recently were looking quite sad and unloved, were turned into views, which looked like the opening scenes of Narnia. My dream one day is to have a converted barn with a big roaring log fire burning and my Labrador at my side! It will happen, I’m working on it! Do you find if difficult to look forward to the future? Did you know hypnotherapy may help you. It can help you to unlock that inner self, that can then say ‘Why not let’s go for it”. I used hypnosis many years ago for this and look how far I’ve got now. Ask yourself where would you like to be this time next year, in five years or maybe just next week. If you find it hard to answer this yourself, just give me a call and allow me to give you a hand looking for your answer. You’ll have the answer in some part of your mind, you just need to open the right page in your book. Becky www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net becky@beckywells.com 07801 941949 So they say we can link ourselves to everyone in the world by a maximum of six degrees of separation? Well let’s try it. How can I be linked to Tom Cruise? I have done some work as Associate Personal Trainer for Matt Roberts. Matt Roberts has trained Mel C, Mel C is friends and part of the same girl group as Victoria Beckham. Victoria Beckham is married to David Beckham who is good friends with Tom Cruise. Well would have thought it he never calls or phones when we are linked so closely (laughs out loud) It just shows you also what a small world it really is and how friendship can be shared all around the world without a second thought. Do you ever take the time to sit and talk to your friends or are you someone who unloads everything on them? Some people lack the confidence to tell their story, why not allow the quietest person in the group to lead the conversation one day. You may be surprised at the life changing thoughts they have been afraid to share. If you’re that quiet person and feel you don’t have the confidence to speak up get help to overcome it. Hypnotherapy can help to raise your confidence and self esteem. You may not realise it but many top individuals still have underlying confidence issues. They’ve just learnt how to override it with their conscious mind. Wouldn’t it be an amazing if you could feel confident enough to stand up and say, “This is how I’d do it”. Who knows where or what you might end up doing! If you would like help with confidence or self-esteem, give me a call Becky 07801 941949 Becky@beckywells.com www.BeckyWells.com Well we didn’t have five gold rings last year but the five rings that featured heavily in the news definitely brought a lot of golds home to the Great British team. How do they achieve such amazing feats of athleticism and stamina? Well generally a lot of hard work and a great support team around them. Do you have to be a top athlete or celebrity to have that type of help? The answer is definitely NO. There are Personal Trainers, Sports Therapists, Hypnotherapists and sports coaches all around your area. You just have to Google these days to find them or ask for a recommendation from a friend or family member. I am trained in all three which allows me to take someone from maybe an unfit, unmotivated or even unsure to wherever their hearts and minds want to lead them. I like to think of myself as a stepping-stone helping them along the way. If I can’t help I will always try to recommend someone who can. If you would like a helping hand along that path, why not give me a call and see if I can help you on your journey. As Lao Tzu said “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Becky www.BeckyWells.com + 44 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com With all the colds and coughs around I think I should wish everyone a speedy return to full health and fitness. I was just sitting down and wondering where the last 10 days went. One minute it's Christmas Eve and the next everyone is talking about going back to work. I had good intentions to get lots done, good intentions unfortunately did not translate into actions until now! I love to be organised in my work, so I have spent the last two days updating my accounts, filing paperwork and clearing the build-up of post-it notes! Have you ever wondered what hypnotherapy may help with? Here's just a few of them, each day I'll add a few more the list. Being More Confident Be More Outgoing Blushing Confidence Increasing Self Esteem A lot of people wonder if they can be hypnotised? All I will say to you is - have you been driving and wondered how you got to a certain place without remembering the middle part of the journey? Your subconscious mind was fully in control, it's an amazing part of us which controls things we do without us having to be consciously aware of it! Do you wonder if hypnotherapy can help you? Drop me a line or call and ask me. I would love to hear from you. becky@beckwells.com 07801 941949 www.beckywells.com Sunday mornings are for reading the papers? Not for me. I headed up to central London to become part of the Matt Roberts team, massaging VIPs after their 13 mile run round the great parks in London. Luckily the weather gods provided the perfect running conditions. Not too hot, but a gorgeous sunny day. Trees with their autumnal colours looking like they’d been brushed on by a rainbow. Bright and early I headed up to London hoping that the security guard would have my name on the list, luckily it was. So who did I get to meet? Well the first person I bumped into was Ben Fogle, a lovely guy who you can’t help but slightly swoon over with that sexy voice and rugged good looks, his wife is stunning as well and what a lovely couple. I heard earlier in the day that Matt Roberts was there leading a group of kids like a pied piper. So with my massage thumbs switched on, a steady stream on VIPs came onto the couches from 11am until we stopped around 2pm. Celebrity runners this year included Katherine Jenkins, Jenni Falconer, Sophie Raworth, and Adam Woodyatt (Ian from Eastenders). I am most proud of Team Glamour from the Condé Nast Magazine group. I started working with a group from their editorial staff earlier in the year when most hadn’t even started to run. I felt like a proud Mum as they all came into the tent after completing their run. I would happily work with any of them again and they were raising money for a great cause, MIND, a charity involved in mental health problems. It was definitely worth getting up bright and early to say I was part of this amazing experience and I would happily give up another day in the future if the opportunity arose. What’s planned for this week? Tomorrow I’m off for my third Kung Fu 1:1 session. I absolutely love it. I started to learn 15 years ago but work got in the way. Now as I am my own boss I can give myself time off to go! Have a great week and don’t forget to ‘Pay it Forward’ if you get the chance. |
