Today I started to wonder how many of the things we do in our lives are habits, either bad or good, so I tried to take a mental note of all the things I did throughout the day. When I wake up in the morning I have got into the habit of looking at my mobile phone to see what the weather’s like (why don’t I look out the window like I used to?). I also see what the world’s been up to as I slept. I wonder if it actually said that the world was ending in an hour, whether I’d believe it and stay in bed for an extra hour so as to not waste my energy getting dressed. We have become so reliant on technology these days and it must affect our habits. If our sat nav says don’t go a certain way, we believe it and change direction. I like to think of hypnotherapy as a form of sat nav. You listen and observe, take in the information and then change direction to a more positive direction for you, creating a new habit for the future. So if you want to work on your internal satellite navigation system, give me a call and let’s see if we can head you off in the right direction with the least obstructions on the way. The scene outside looks like something from a Narnia movie, just in case you haven’t look out the window today. I wonder how many of you got up and then decided to stay in your PJs or onesies! I know I seriously considered it but I decided that I should probably go and clear our driveway, to make it easier to get off it tomorrow morning. Do you ever take a day off just to relax, switching off your computers, iPhones and iPads? I am guessing probably not. I would have to say no as well. Modern technology fuels our desire to know all that’s going on around us. I challenge you one day next week to switch them off for at least a few hours and go back to the old fashioned way of relaxation. Watch your favourite movie without clicking on your screen, sit and stare at a log burning fire if you have one or pick that book up you’ve been meaning to read for ages. Hypnotherapy relies on you being relaxed. I ask new clients to meet me for a chat or a coffee before booking an appointment if possible. I want my clients to be confident and comfortable from their first session of hypnotherapy. You will never find me trying to hard sell my hypnotherapy or PT skills, most of my clients are because of referral from others, which to me is the way I like it to be. I can just book you in for a session of relaxation hypnotherapy if you just wanted to try it but didn’t feel there is anything you need help with. You’ll be surprised how uncluttering your mind gives you a deep sense of relaxation. A relaxed mind is just so much more productive, it’s just like blowing a few cobwebs out! So if you want to spend a session with me being whisked to a relaxation place in your mind for ½ hour or so, give me a call or drop me a line. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net becky@beckywells.com +44 7801 941949 I’m sure with all this wintery weather a lot of you will be stripping off the layers of clothing you’ve been carrying around all day? I like to think of hypnotherapy as stripping away the layers of habits, learnt behaviours and other issues that have built up over time, years maybe in some of the cases I’ve seen. It’s almost like we keep placing another jumper on top of the one we’re wearing. So what do I mean? Well the best way to allow you to see what I mean is to take you through a case study. So let’s take stopping smoking as an example. The base layer of smoking to me is a deep-seated need from past behaviours. Some may have started to smoke at school or watched parents or relatives do the same. It has become that comfort layer close to our body we need (or think we need). Next comes the mid layer that keeps you warm, the fleece layer. This to me is like the comfort level, the one that makes you feel better. Getting out of an uncomfortable situation by ‘going for a cigarette’. Finally comes the insulation layer, the outer layer. This is just like you wearing a certain jacket if you know it’s going to get cold. You build up the behaviour of having a cigarette at certain points on a journey or at certain times of day. So how will I help to you to change the outfit you wear? I will use hypnotherapy with a perfect mix of my other skills to adjust each layer to a perfect outfit for you. I’ll help take those old and comfy base layers off and let your subconscious pick the one that’s the perfect fit for you. I’ll maybe show how the old one probably had a few holes in you hadn’t even spotted. Next, with a mix of hypnotherapy with counselling (or talking) as I prefer to know it, I will help you realise that the comfy layer was not the best fit and work with you to find a fit you would be proud to show off. This may be working on your self-esteem or self-confidence to deal with the situations that drove you to smoke. Finally we will deal with the outer layer. This uses my skills as hypnotherapist but also my previous training in health and sports therapy, helping you to changing the way you live your day-to-day life. So with smoking it may be just asking you to change a route you take to work, as many smokers I’ve talked to smoke at particular points on their journeys. Each layer is just as important as the next to deal with. And look at the rewards and health risks. Smoking 15-20 cigarettes apparently costs around £2500 per year, which could be an amazing holiday fund. Have you ever looked into what’s inside cigarettes to make them so addictive? I challenge you to search on the Internet and see if you would eat the raw ingredients if they were put in front of you and roll them up and smoke them. I am guessing not, I was surprised what was in them, not that nice! If you want to give up and stop sending your wages up in smoke, let me help YOU find that new non-smoking outfit. Becky www.beckywells.com / www.payitforward.net 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com Sussex, and probably most of the UK, has a glow tonight as the whiteness of the snow lights up the usually dark night. I love the glow at night. It has that almost mystical feel. How many of you went out and enjoyed the weather today? I went out and took some pictures of the amazing countryside and wildlife around us. You can find some of them on my twitter feed @beckyjoewells Vistas, which recently were looking quite sad and unloved, were turned into views, which looked like the opening scenes of Narnia. My dream one day is to have a converted barn with a big roaring log fire burning and my Labrador at my side! It will happen, I’m working on it! Do you find if difficult to look forward to the future? Did you know hypnotherapy may help you. It can help you to unlock that inner self, that can then say ‘Why not let’s go for it”. I used hypnosis many years ago for this and look how far I’ve got now. Ask yourself where would you like to be this time next year, in five years or maybe just next week. If you find it hard to answer this yourself, just give me a call and allow me to give you a hand looking for your answer. You’ll have the answer in some part of your mind, you just need to open the right page in your book. Becky www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net becky@beckywells.com 07801 941949 Do you get up in the morning and look forward to the day ahead or do you get up and dread what the day is going to bring? I used to be one of those people who did exactly that. I’d get up in the morning, head up to the city, arrive an hour and a half later and walk in a zombie like fashion to my desk. Sit there entering data and wondering how everyone had been doing the same thing for years. So I did something about it, I retrained. I was also fairly shy, which people that know me now may not believe. So not only did I have to retrain my skills but also I had to retrain me. I had to overcome a fear of standing up and being heard, which to me was something I thought I’d never have the courage to do. I used various therapies including hypnotherapy, to build up my self-confidence, self-belief and self-esteem. I guess in psychological terms they would probably describe me as an introvert with an extrovert shell. I will always have that piece of my past in my mind, the shy individual who wouldn’t say ‘boo to a goose’ as they say (still not keen on geese) but I use this to boost how far I’ve come. I look in the mirror and see that shy person sitting there in the past and show them just how far they’ve come and watch them take a deep breath and say “I can go anywhere I want, can’t I, I just need to believe in me”. So find that mirror, look at how much that person looking back has achieved. If you want to achieve even more or need help with a specific issue, give me a call and enjoy the snow - if it appears tomorrow. Go build snowmen, make a snow angel and have a snowball fight with family or friends. Becky (chief snowball builder) www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net becky@beckywells.com 07801 941949 How many times have you enjoyed a meal so much that you finished your plate even though you were full up. An uncomfortable feeling creeps up on you and you still have to take that one extra mouthful. We’ve all done it. I did it tonight. I’m feeling like a Buddha-shaped girl. Many people have a compulsion to over eat. It’s not something they can help. Actually in most cases it’s just a habit that has become out of control due to any number of reasons. Maybe that’s you. So if I asked you what caused your excessive eating you might say “I do it when I am upset”, “It started when I retired”, “When I lost my job” or another life changing and upsetting event. Hypnotherapy allows you to access your own subconscious mind where your bad habits and your bad life experiences are stored. Working with your hypnotherapist these issues are examined and demystified. In a safe environment, you are taught to relax and allow your subconscious mind to open up and make a positive effect on your future behavior around food. So put down that knife and fork, take a few deep breaths and give me a call. Hypnotherapy is an ancient, safe and effective tool that helps you use the power of your subconscious mind to enhance your conscious daily life. It can soothe fears, mend uncomfortable thoughts and bring you closer to the person you want to be and CAN be. Becky www.BeckyWells.com 07801 941949 becky@beckywells.com I have been asked to do a demonstration to a group of ladies in Haywards Heath later in the week. I have found visualisation so important in the work that I do. I use it with so many of my clients because it’s such an effective tool. Let me give you a few examples. A young footballer I work with has used it to increase his presence on the pitch. I will take him from the moment when he walks down the tunnel to the point where he takes his first kick, to the point of scoring the goal. He has scored several times since I’ve worked with him and often plays up a level or two! Another example is about stopping eating sweet stuff. I’ll get the individual to imagine all the sweet foods or maybe even junk food in front of them that they have ever eaten. Can you imagine now, if you shut your eyes, all the piles of chocolate piled up together on a table. I’m guessing that brown gooey mess is not a pretty sight in your mind. I know I’d rather imagine fresh foods, amazing colours that nature already provides us. It’s always easier to do something once you’ve got a memory of doing it once before. Visualisation can create a memory in your subconscious mind. Try a short visualisation. Shut your eyes and picture your favourite room in your house, or from a holiday memory, it really doesn’t matter. Have a look around the room in your mind. Are there pictures, objects? Can you remember a smell or feeling or sound attached to it? You may be surprised what you find hidden away, memories you’d forgotten about. Do you get those first day nerves when you do something new? Visualisation can help to reduce those anxious feelings. Enjoy it and if you feel you would like to use it to help change you, feel free to give me a call to find out if it can help you. With me the choice is always yours. Are you already preparing for next month’s special day? I imagine the shops are already stocked full of the cards! According to statistics the number of people getting married for the first time in their 40s has double in the first few years. Are we all to busy enjoying life? I’m heading at a rapid speed towards that milestone, I’m going to make the most of my 38/39th year before the BIG 40 bites me on the bum next year. I was sitting drink coffee this morning at my favourite coffee shop haunt in East Grinstead quietly reading my magazine. The hustle and bustle of people coming and going is fascinating to me. Coffee shops like this one are hubs. You have such an amazing mix of people passing through even in the hour I’d been sitting there. You have the family who start their day with a coffee before heading off to do battle with the shops. The young mums meeting up to share there stories about what’s been going and also more importantly a time for them to share problems with a friendly ear. The businessmen and women who pop in for a quick shot of coffee to boost them before a day of marketing, selling or what ever business they are involved in. There is always a warm welcoming feeling and the owner always makes you feel welcome. I have to say I do have to urge to have a go in the Play area some days! Are you a grab and go type of person, or do you sit and put the world to rights over you soy cappuccino or latte? You’ll never feel lonely in this coffee shop. You never know you might just start up a conversation with Mr or Miss Right if you’re single! Grab a coffee, a tea or a hot chocolate. It’s for me something that starts my week off on the right foot before the real fun begins. You never know you might just bump into me! If you’re not confident enough to just walk into a coffee shop, why not contact me and see how I can help build your self esteem up! Becky 07801 941949 www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net Becky@beckywells.com "Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love." How many of you have stuck to your New Years resolutions? In fact how many of you actually made any? Were your resolutions to further yourself or to help others? I was just looking through comments on Facebook this weekend. A lot of people are quick to judge and very few offer alternative solutions. Have you ever thought about being part of the answer rather than leaving it to someone else. This weekend I watched a ‘YouTube’ video about a group of guys who whilst drinking at a bar used the offer of a beer and pizza to feed the homeless on the beach. They still got to enjoy their afternoon and also spread kindness to the less fortunate. I know in February a group are going to pack bags and take them out to the homeless in London. But my challenge to you is for the next time you walk past a homeless person. Just remember they are human beings, they just lost their way at some point, and don’t pity them, they don’t want this. If you can help, maybe by leaving them one of your unused blankets or a food parcel, you’d be surprised what a difference you could make. It’s turning wintery soon, that extra blanket or food might just make those freezing temperatures a little more bearable! As the saying goes “Be the change you want to see in the world.”- Gandhi So my resolution is to be part of the change, I want to be there as it grows from this small acorn to a mighty oak! Becky www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net 07801 941949 Becky@beckywells.com So does that mean the shelves will empty just in case it's the start of the ice age as usual. For me it's time to prepare to make snow angels in the snow. Last year my Mum dared me to do so in my PJs. You'd be surprised how far snow can go when you are only wearing pjs. Don't forget if there is bad weather to check on your neighbours and friends. I know one of my friends is looking forward to sitting in front of his real log burning fire. If the weather sets in. I bought bird seed by the sack and peanuts which the squirrel has carefully lost all around the garden! Best way of keeping warm? How about a lovely country walk? To me there is nothing better to get the circulation going than, a brisk walk in the country, warm hat, rosy cheeks and a warm cup of tea on the return. I went out with one of my friends and her dogs the other day for a good long walk in Rusper, the views were spectacular. So wrap up warm, let's hope the cold snap sends some of that awful flu packing. What's your favourite way of keeping warm on a cold winters day? Answers on a snowflake to...
