I was looking at all the fresh fruit and vegetables over the weekend. It’s amazing, not only the colours that the natural world produces, but the health benefits some can have for our body.
How many of you cook your vegetable to within an inch of their life, or know someone who does? Did you know by leaving your vegetables crispy, your body will burn off more calories as it breaks the food down. Mushy vegetables are already well on their way to being broken back down into their sugary form that our body needs to fuel us. Also look at fruit and vegetables that are in season. In the UK fruit and vegetables such as french beans, apricots, cherries, cucumber, rocket, tomato and watercress are all freshly available this time of year. Why not grow your own in a small trough or herbs in a flowerpot on a window. Try fresh salads for lunch. I know in East Grinstead the New York Coffee Shop are currently selling the most mouthwateringly fresh salads, created by the staff on a daily basis. You can visit their website www.newyorkcoffeeclub.co.uk/ or pop down to their cafe in Brighton. The smoothies are pretty amazing too, I have tested them several times, just to make sure obviously. Also who could resist those amazing smiles from the staff. So see how much better you feel and how much more energy you have by using nature’s shopping list, I challenge you. Let me know about other foods and how their health benefits have helped you. Book yourself in to 'a weight off your mind' interactive evening seminar being held on 24th Sept at the Chequers Mead in East Grinstead. Tickets will be available directly from the Chequers Mead Box office or by contacting me directly. If you would like to know more about how changing your mind around food can help you lose weight. ![]() If I was to ask you to describe yourself as a coffee I wonder which coffee you would choose? I am a straight from the pot, no added ingredients Americano type of person. With just a little added sweetness of sugar. What you see is what you get with me. Are you a latte, with warm steamed milk? Relaxed, laid back and a perfect pick me up for a cold winter's morning. Or maybe you’re an espresso? To the point, strong and a dependable boost in the most stressful situation? Have you ever wonder what it would be like to be that other coffee? With the work that I do I can help you brew the perfect cup, so if you are that espresso type always rushing, I can give you an added extra in the form of relaxation to encourage you to take a step back and breath just for a moment. You’d be surprised how much more productive you could be. Or maybe you need that get up and go, so working with me, I’ll teach you how to add those perfect ingredients to leave you bursting with ideas to take control. Let me help you make that perfect cup of coffee for you. Are you already preparing for next month’s special day? I imagine the shops are already stocked full of the cards! According to statistics the number of people getting married for the first time in their 40s has double in the first few years. Are we all to busy enjoying life? I’m heading at a rapid speed towards that milestone, I’m going to make the most of my 38/39th year before the BIG 40 bites me on the bum next year. I was sitting drink coffee this morning at my favourite coffee shop haunt in East Grinstead quietly reading my magazine. The hustle and bustle of people coming and going is fascinating to me. Coffee shops like this one are hubs. You have such an amazing mix of people passing through even in the hour I’d been sitting there. You have the family who start their day with a coffee before heading off to do battle with the shops. The young mums meeting up to share there stories about what’s been going and also more importantly a time for them to share problems with a friendly ear. The businessmen and women who pop in for a quick shot of coffee to boost them before a day of marketing, selling or what ever business they are involved in. There is always a warm welcoming feeling and the owner always makes you feel welcome. I have to say I do have to urge to have a go in the Play area some days! Are you a grab and go type of person, or do you sit and put the world to rights over you soy cappuccino or latte? You’ll never feel lonely in this coffee shop. You never know you might just start up a conversation with Mr or Miss Right if you’re single! Grab a coffee, a tea or a hot chocolate. It’s for me something that starts my week off on the right foot before the real fun begins. You never know you might just bump into me! If you’re not confident enough to just walk into a coffee shop, why not contact me and see how I can help build your self esteem up! Becky 07801 941949 www.BeckyWells.com / www.payitforwarduk.net Becky@beckywells.com "Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love." No, not because it’s bonfire night. But because it’s the day I bought two dresses. Believe me that is unusual. I am the jean buying, fleece girl, usually happier in a pair of wellies, a waterproof jacket and the warmest clothing available that will keep my kidneys warm. It was just like the scene from Narnia as I stepped through the wardrobe (well the door). The dresses said “buy me” and I even found myself accessorising in my head. Shoes, necklace….oh my god HELP!!!!
Last week was the witch week. So I put my creative skills to use carving a pumpkin into a Jack Skeleton. We also hosted two Aqua Halloween sessions at the Triangle in Burgess Hill. The pool was full of witches, warlocks, skeletons and ghouls. A fantastic day and evening and we raised £50 for the WalkingMatildausa.com charity. On Friday I popped over to see one of my clients, a young footballing star. He had been chosen to play for his team against Chelsea and had asked for a hypnotherapy session to help him focus on his goal scoring. Then on Sunday I received a text from his Mum saying that the team had won 2–0 and he’d scored the goals. I look forward to seeing him in his first Premiership match one day. Most of the top footballers have their own personal psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and sports therapy team. On Saturday we went to see ‘Chicago’ at the Hawth starring Bernie Nolan and a host of other TV celebrities. What an amazing woman carrying on performing after announcing she has incurable cancer. I take my hat of to her and hope from the bottom of heart that a cure becomes available soon. “Never give up hope it’s usually the last key on the bunch that unlocks the door” This morning, as usual, I headed off for my Monday morning coffee at the New York coffee shop in East Grinstead. The Andre’s are another family that I have the greatest respect for. Danny is a lovely guy who always has time for his customers, as do the other brothers that I have had the honour to meet. I hope his brother Andrew is able to take cancer, shove it in a rocket and send it to the moon and beyond this time round. What is planned for this week? I have a real mixture of hypnotherapy and personal training to keep me busy. Friday this week I’m off to see ‘Girls Night Out’ at the Hawth in Crawley starring Krys O’Brien and four others. I can feel the need to warm up my singing vocals for that night! So take your earplugs if you are going too. Have a great week and keep the cold at bay by wrapping up warm. Today, as always, I talked with some great people. If you look carefully you can sometimes see the sadness behind their eyes. When someone talks to you next time, listen not only with your ears but also your eyes and heart. You might just change that person’s day. What have I been up to? Last week I was invited up to London to experience two treatments that I had never experienced before. The first was a session with David Jarvis from www.thinkpossible.co.uk. David is a movement therapist with clinics in Central and West London. He works with clients who suffer from long-term pain, who have been unable to find a solution after seeing the usual therapists. It’s an amazing concept using movement adjustment of the whole body rather than just a specific area and it’s used when treating an injury to achieve a long-term solution to pain. I was amazed after just an hour how different my body felt and how my range of movement was increased. The second session was an Ayurvedic consultation and body massage. An ancient treatment that I notice in the media the Duchess of Cornwall is trying when she recuperates in India. It’s based on an ancient Indian healing system. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was so relaxed I have no idea how I stayed awake on the train home. Jamie Chalmers, the owner of Rasyana Ayurvedic www.rasayana.co.uk, sent a report about me the following day. I discovered that my Dosha (one of three bodily humors that make up one's constitution) was Pitta (controls digestion, metabolism, and energy production) and I scored 21 on my Sattvic (pure mind) score. Apparently one of the highest scores he’d ever seen. I can recommend both experiences if you are based in or visiting London or Edinburgh. Today I met up with a lovely lady called Lindsay who, along with the rest of her family, is raising money for Matilda, their two-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. She can have an operation to help her walk if they can raise £70,000. I have donated a crystal for them to auction later in the year and will continue to help them until they reach their goal. Their website is www.walkingmatildausa.com. Every penny helps. I look forward to seeing Matilda in her sparkly shoes once she’s had the operation. What’s planned for the rest of the week? Well I have two Halloween aqua parties lined up on Wednesday that will hopefully raise money for Matilda. Who knows what other mischief I’ll get up to? It’s the week for ghosts, ghouls and little gremlins like me! Of course on Wednesday night I’ll be busy on my broomstick! Happy Halloween everyone, stay safe if you’re trick or treating. Why not book an appointment with me at my Harley Street clinic or in one of my clinics down in Sussex. What a start to summer (or glummer) as I heard it called.
Have you ever wondered what hypnotherapy can be used for? I would ask that the other way round. What can't it be used for? Weight loss is one of the areas hypnotherapy can complement and enhance other forms of training such as personal training, pilates and yoga. It gets to the the heart of the matter and can help to change years of bad habits, replacing them with positive ones. I have recently been working with several clients who, by changing their lifestyle and eating habits, lost between 10 and 17 pounds over an eight week period. Confidence and self esteem is another area where people seem to bloom steadily as the sessions progress. For me the reward of seeing someone grow is so motivational and inspires me a little bit more every time. What's planned for this week? Glamour magazine team have taken the Royal Great Parks Half Marathon challenge by the horns and are taking their training shoes all round the world. They took their Asics trainers to Australia on a photo shoot. There's dedication for you! Tuesday they are training in Berkeley Square with myself and Vicky from Matt Roberts 'Training with You'. It's going fantastically well. They've been using muscles in their bodies they didn't even know they had. I'm off to Harley Street to see clients on Thursday. Then topping the week off with a trip to Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead. I went last year for the first time and was so impressed by the events and exhibitors that I am looking forward to this year even more. In the British tradition I am going whatever the weather. That's why 'Hunters' were invented. Becky Wells becky@beckywells.com www.beckywells.com T 07801 941949 Twitter @beckyjoewells facebbok.com/beckywellslimited ![]() What a great start to my new company! Appointments have been keeping me very busy, spreading my time between London and Sussex. Last Thursday I went up to a ‘Women in Business’ networking meeting with Jon Roberts, a speaker from Matt Roberts Personal Training. What a fantastic motivational talk. I picked up the keys to my Harley Street consulting room last Thursday, so appointments will now be available there on a Thursday afternoon. The training with Team Glamour from Glamour magazine is going fantastically well. They are such highly motivated people who work so well together. They are training for the Great Parks run in London in October and are raising money for MIND. You can follow their training blog on http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/love-sex-relationships/health-fitness/2012/team-glamour-running-blog#!image-number=1and see what training myself and Vicky from the Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ team have been putting them through. My Matt Roberts ‘Training With You’ ladies in Mid Sussex are also doing amazingly well with their sessions. They have been going for four weeks now and have lost almost 16 kilograms between them already (almost 30 bags of sugar)! They have lost 25cms around their waist and 12.5cms round their hips between them. Keep up the great work ladies. So what’s planned for next week? Well lots more hypnotherapy and sports therapy clients are booked in but I have given myself the day off for my birthday on Wednesday 11th (21st birthday again for the 17th time)! Monday at 9am I’ll be over in East Grinstead on the Meridian 107 FM Breakfast radio show I sponsor with Mark Dodson, and then off for my coffee at Mr Andre’s coffee shop. I’ve missed them whilst I’ve been so busy the last few weeks. On Tuesday evening, why not come and watch us train the Glamour Team in Berkeley Square. Fingers crossed the rain stays away! fly. It’s been a busy week again and it’s not looking like it’s going to get any quieter soon. I am lucky enough to be able to say I love what I do. After my unexpected start to the week meeting Mr Peter Andre at the New York Coffee Shop in East Grinstead, the week just kept improving. Saturday I decided that it was time to try my hand at being Robin Hood, with my parents and sister in tow. I booked archery at Priory events in Redhill, I think I might need a little bit more practice before the Olympics. Hypnotherapy sessions are being booked well in advance now. The main sessions being booked at the moment are weight loss but I have also had enquiries about using it for postural control, sports performance with footballers and stress relief. On the website I have now set up a package deal which includes both Personal Training and hypnotherapy for weight loss. I watched a fascinating video on being an introvert on the Conviviality website; this was also an article in the April Psychologies magazine. It was one of those videos and articles which makes you think “so that’s why I do that and I thought it was just me”. What’s planned for this week? I’m off to London again Saturday to attend a follow up training session with Matt Roberts and the Conviviality team at his Mayfair studio. Who knows what other little adventures will pop up this week, as my friends will tell you, life is always unique and never dull when you’re friends with me. Don’t forget to have a look on Facebook and ‘like’ the BeckyWells.com page, Matt Roberts Personal Training page and Conviviality page. Another week has drawn to a close and a new week opens, edging us even closer to March. It was great to wave goodbye to the flu last week and then start rebuilding my fitness levels for the Sussex Living Marathon weekend in May.
This morning, as most Monday mornings, I put Mark from Meridian 107 FM radio through some health and fitness analysis including testing his blood pressure and body composition while we were on air. Last week I had him on a spin bike on air. Who knows what I’ve got in store for him next week! If you’re not local you can listen via the web at meridianfm.com. After the radio show, my morning ritual is a soya Americano at Peter Andre’s New York Coffee Club in East Grinstead. It really sets me up for the day. And who knows, one day I might meet Peter or his brothers there. That really would be the cream on the coffee! I spent the weekend at one of Matt Roberts’ personal training studios in London. He and his team inducted me into his new ‘Training with you’ programme, run in association with Conviviality. It’s a tailored six-week programme delivered by an Associate Personal trainer, offering expert training and nutritional advice to enable you to get results. I am now one of these Matt Roberts ‘Associate Personal Trainers’ and will be travelling round Surrey, East and West Sussex delivering the programme. For more information please visit www.conviviality.com or www.mattroberts.co.uk This coming week I have several new hypnotherapy clients booked in and I’m looking forward to meeting them and helping them achieve their goals. It’s great to know that advertising in Sussex Living magazine is so effective. A local lady had cut out the advert and approached me to ask if she could have hypnotherapy. What else have I got planned for this week? Well this coming weekend I am back off to London again to complete my acupuncture training with Bernard Nolan at The Third Space in Soho. And even more importantly I am so looking forward to Pancake Day!!
