No, not because it’s bonfire night. But because it’s the day I bought two dresses. Believe me that is unusual. I am the jean buying, fleece girl, usually happier in a pair of wellies, a waterproof jacket and the warmest clothing available that will keep my kidneys warm. It was just like the scene from Narnia as I stepped through the wardrobe (well the door). The dresses said “buy me” and I even found myself accessorising in my head. Shoes, necklace….oh my god HELP!!!!
Last week was the witch week. So I put my creative skills to use carving a pumpkin into a Jack Skeleton. We also hosted two Aqua Halloween sessions at the Triangle in Burgess Hill. The pool was full of witches, warlocks, skeletons and ghouls. A fantastic day and evening and we raised £50 for the WalkingMatildausa.com charity. On Friday I popped over to see one of my clients, a young footballing star. He had been chosen to play for his team against Chelsea and had asked for a hypnotherapy session to help him focus on his goal scoring. Then on Sunday I received a text from his Mum saying that the team had won 2–0 and he’d scored the goals. I look forward to seeing him in his first Premiership match one day. Most of the top footballers have their own personal psychotherapist, hypnotherapist and sports therapy team. On Saturday we went to see ‘Chicago’ at the Hawth starring Bernie Nolan and a host of other TV celebrities. What an amazing woman carrying on performing after announcing she has incurable cancer. I take my hat of to her and hope from the bottom of heart that a cure becomes available soon. “Never give up hope it’s usually the last key on the bunch that unlocks the door” This morning, as usual, I headed off for my Monday morning coffee at the New York coffee shop in East Grinstead. The Andre’s are another family that I have the greatest respect for. Danny is a lovely guy who always has time for his customers, as do the other brothers that I have had the honour to meet. I hope his brother Andrew is able to take cancer, shove it in a rocket and send it to the moon and beyond this time round. What is planned for this week? I have a real mixture of hypnotherapy and personal training to keep me busy. Friday this week I’m off to see ‘Girls Night Out’ at the Hawth in Crawley starring Krys O’Brien and four others. I can feel the need to warm up my singing vocals for that night! So take your earplugs if you are going too. Have a great week and keep the cold at bay by wrapping up warm. If someone had suggested to me a few years ago that I'd be running round a field chased by zombies and ghouls just outside Crawley I would have laughed.
Tulley's farm has put a lot of effort into providing entertainment for all at their spooktacular event that runs for two weeks of the year. I recommend it if you haven't been. Jonathan Ross was there enjoying it the other day. Not sure if I consider him more scary than the attractions! My Kung Fu training is going well, I guess it helps having a 1:1 instructor. I love the challenge of learning the next section each week. Hypnotherapy can help you with fear of the unknown, or to help improve your sporting performance using techniques like visualisation, focusing and relaxation. I also think it's so important to link with other professionals. One of the things I have tried to do in the last few months is meet up with others in Sussex and London. A good network is such an important asset to any business. I was also impressed to find I had made an appearance in Glamour Magazine November 2012 issue on page 298, a feature with Matt Roberts and the So what's on the agenda next week? I am off to meet a couple of health professionals in London. If I like what I find,! I am hoping be able to refer clients to them over the coming months where appropriae. I've also been given the opportunity to try an Ayurvedic treatment. I'm looking forward to experiencing it. Why not book an appointment with me at my Harley Street clinic or in one of my clinics down in Sussex. I was beginning to feel like I’d been attached to a yo-yo. The week started off with a trip up to London, only to be told my client didn’t realise they were booked in! So I made use of the time and explore London on foot by walking back from Knightsbridge to Victoria. It’s surprising how close everything really is when you start walking. Also on a sad note for me, I lost a family pet, who had become a large part of the Wells family life. I think you only realise how much they affect you when they’re not there anymore. There’s that glance when you move the chair so as not to catch them with it, or that moment as you go to say goodbye as you walk out the door and you remember he’s not there. Who’s going to tidy the slippers left on the floor now! I was lucky enough to have had the honour to share his life and for that I will always be grateful. So what else have I been up to? This week saw me taking my second one-to-one lesson in Kung Fu with the Kung Fu School Crawley. Dave, my instructor, is very patient. I have learnt so much in the first couple of sessions. For me it’s a great new hobby. Kung Fu translates to ‘achievement of man’. It’s helping me focus on the fact that with time and energy, anything can be achieved. You may be wondering what all this has to do with hypnotherapy or the other work that I do? Hypnotherapy is one of many therapies that can help you through the stages of loss. Having someone to talk to when everything seems against you, is like trying to jump that eight foot wall but never quite reaching it, until a friendly pair of hands gives you a lift over. Learning to relax and live in the moment, rather than dwelling on a past that cannot be changed, can be a life changing experience. Let’s see what October’s got in store for us apart from Ghosts and Ghouls… Oh and of course my yearly trip out on my broomstick on the 31st! There is nothing like swimming with thousands of fish, rays and sharks to make you realise how close we really are to nature, or riding a coaster which takes you through various g-forces! Where is your favourite place to relax? Some may find it’s the beach, others a room in their own home. When I see clients for hypnotherapy I use their favourite resting place to increase their relaxed state. My favourite is a sandy beach with my toes just by the edge of the water and the waves almost tickling my toes as they’re gently drawn back into the sea. Do you find it hard to relax? Hypnotherapy can show you how to relax. I work with many individuals who, due to work stress, home stress or just plan stress, just can’t relax. Their bodies just go into a vicious circle. They are unable to sleep due to thoughts in their heads, then unable to work effectively due to insomnia. Hypnotherapy can help put them back in control of their thoughts. Most people I’ve seen for hypnotherapy say they get the best night’s sleep ever following the session. You’d think I’d not been up to much else whilst lazing on loungers and riding rollercoasters. Bet while I was away and after email conversations with Charley Johnson, the President of the Global Pay it Forward Foundation, (www.pifexperience.org) I have now set up a ‘Pay it Forward’ UK group. What is ‘Pay it Forward’? Years ago I watched a film called ‘Pay it Forward’. It was based on a true story of a social studies class that was set an assignment to change the world. One of the young class members decided his project was to be to ‘Pay it Forward’. Do a good deed for three people and instead of expecting a reward you ask them each to ‘Pay it Forward’ to three more people and so it continues like a small ripple getting bigger and bigger. Charley Johnson has taken it one step further by offering a bracelet as a reminder of the deed; we will have 10,000 of these in the UK soon. If you are an individual or a company interested in sponsoring the bracelets in the UK please contact me through my web page www.payitforwarduk.net Don’t forget to let us know your PIF experience when giving and receiving apart from the web page you can also follow us on twitter at https://twitter.com/payitforwarduk Don’t forget to use hashtag #pifuk when tweeting about your ‘Pay it Forward’ experience or email us at payitforwarduk@beckywells.com. What’s in the diary for my first week back? On Monday I’m taking up a new hobby, I’ll leave it till the next blog to tell you all about that. I’m off to see five new personal training clients in Knightsbridge on Monday evening. Then Thursday hopefully will be meeting up with one of the board members from the Pay It Forward foundation. For hypnotherapy, sports massage and personal training appointments please contact me via any of the details below. I look forward to hearing from you. I was surprised how many people hadn't when I started to talk about it. It is basically about how one good deed deserves another but rather than returning the good deed to the same person, you suggest they do a good deed for someone else. Therefore you 'Pay it Forward'.
Little did I know until the other day that there is a 'Pay it Forward' Foundation. When I described how I'd done such a deed and tweeted about it. I was amazed and extremely honoured to get a message from Charley Johnson, the head of the pif foundation www.pifexperience.org. Let's get 'pif' rippling out across the UK. Just make one kind gesture and watch the ripple grow! Things have been steady growing work-wise and I can't believe it's been two months since I started the company! I'm looking into setting up a training branch at the moment and I have a meeting set up to discuss international clinics. I already have two people on a waiting list even though it's still only a thought in my head at the moment. There are lots of hypnotherapy clients booked in this week. I think they are all trying to squeeze in before my holiday! What's planned for the rest of the week? Thursday I'm up at my Harley Street clinic. Some of the Glamour magazine team are booked in for sports massage as their weekly mileage increases in preparation for the Great Parks half marathon. Their muscles are starting to wonder what's hit them! This is my 'Pay it Forward' moment this week. I have asked them, rather than paying me, to make a donation to MIND - the charity they are running the half marathon for. MIND can then use the money to help many individuals with mental health issues. And the ripple goes on! Don't forget to watch out for my new advert in Sussex Living this month. I have held my breath, shed tears of joy and sadness and smiled so much I think I could have lit up a Stadium. Well how to top that, we are all wondering now? Let’s allow that feeling to spill up over the top of the stadium and engulf the whole UK. We proved that working together is easy. Foreigners to our shores have commented on the friendliness and ease of their visit to this great Isle. So how can I follow that! My plan for the year is to make a difference, if I make a positive difference to just one person’s life; I will have succeeded. If I can help more, then everyone I see is just as important as the first. What’s planned for this week? Firstly just remembering to take a breath and enjoy breathing in the pride of the nation. These individuals we’ve watched jump, swim, run and shoot are just like YOU or I! They have trained their bodies and minds to overcome obstacles and setbacks by using these challenges to fuel their motivation to succeed. Changing yourself from the inside may not always be easy without a guiding hand. Hypnotherapy acts as that guiding hand, it reminds you, you’ve done it before and you can do it again. It helps you to grab that favourite memory you’d forgotten about from your past and helps you put it in your pocket for a rainy day. So that’s what I’ve got planned for the week. I’m going to help some individuals find that forgotten memory and store it for that rainy day in the future. What a start to summer (or glummer) as I heard it called.
Have you ever wondered what hypnotherapy can be used for? I would ask that the other way round. What can't it be used for? Weight loss is one of the areas hypnotherapy can complement and enhance other forms of training such as personal training, pilates and yoga. It gets to the the heart of the matter and can help to change years of bad habits, replacing them with positive ones. I have recently been working with several clients who, by changing their lifestyle and eating habits, lost between 10 and 17 pounds over an eight week period. Confidence and self esteem is another area where people seem to bloom steadily as the sessions progress. For me the reward of seeing someone grow is so motivational and inspires me a little bit more every time. What's planned for this week? Glamour magazine team have taken the Royal Great Parks Half Marathon challenge by the horns and are taking their training shoes all round the world. They took their Asics trainers to Australia on a photo shoot. There's dedication for you! Tuesday they are training in Berkeley Square with myself and Vicky from Matt Roberts 'Training with You'. It's going fantastically well. They've been using muscles in their bodies they didn't even know they had. I'm off to Harley Street to see clients on Thursday. Then topping the week off with a trip to Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead. I went last year for the first time and was so impressed by the events and exhibitors that I am looking forward to this year even more. In the British tradition I am going whatever the weather. That's why 'Hunters' were invented. Becky Wells becky@beckywells.com www.beckywells.com T 07801 941949 Twitter @beckyjoewells facebbok.com/beckywellslimited ![]() What a great start to my new company! Appointments have been keeping me very busy, spreading my time between London and Sussex. Last Thursday I went up to a ‘Women in Business’ networking meeting with Jon Roberts, a speaker from Matt Roberts Personal Training. What a fantastic motivational talk. I picked up the keys to my Harley Street consulting room last Thursday, so appointments will now be available there on a Thursday afternoon. The training with Team Glamour from Glamour magazine is going fantastically well. They are such highly motivated people who work so well together. They are training for the Great Parks run in London in October and are raising money for MIND. You can follow their training blog on http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/love-sex-relationships/health-fitness/2012/team-glamour-running-blog#!image-number=1and see what training myself and Vicky from the Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ team have been putting them through. My Matt Roberts ‘Training With You’ ladies in Mid Sussex are also doing amazingly well with their sessions. They have been going for four weeks now and have lost almost 16 kilograms between them already (almost 30 bags of sugar)! They have lost 25cms around their waist and 12.5cms round their hips between them. Keep up the great work ladies. So what’s planned for next week? Well lots more hypnotherapy and sports therapy clients are booked in but I have given myself the day off for my birthday on Wednesday 11th (21st birthday again for the 17th time)! Monday at 9am I’ll be over in East Grinstead on the Meridian 107 FM Breakfast radio show I sponsor with Mark Dodson, and then off for my coffee at Mr Andre’s coffee shop. I’ve missed them whilst I’ve been so busy the last few weeks. On Tuesday evening, why not come and watch us train the Glamour Team in Berkeley Square. Fingers crossed the rain stays away! I invited ‘Jane Pattenden’ a friend and fellow trainer to talk about her new qualification in ‘Hypopresive Training’. She put Mark through his paces but having man flu didn’t help him. Thursday I went up to number 1 Harley Street to view a new therapy room to rent, which I am hoping to rent through the Harley Street Therapy centre. The room I have chosen has the most amazing view over the start of Harley Street and down to the Coutts building opposite. I am hoping it will be all up and running within a month. I am busy exploring all the amazing outcomes you can achieve from using hypnotherapy. into the middle of this week, hopefully leaving those cold winter evenings heading off into our distant memories. Thoughts of spring lambs, Easter and clocks leaping forward bring us gradually out of our hibernation. So what have I been up to over the long winter evenings? I thought it was the perfect time to refresh my skills and add a few extra ones. Over the past two weeks I’ve been travelling up to central London to attend various courses. Last weekend I spent time training with Matt Roberts and his ‘Training with You’ team. This new programme is initially a six week programme where between 2 and 8 of you are trained in the comfort of your own home, once a week. All equipment for these sessions will be supplied for the one and a half hour sessions. The simplicity of the programme ensures that if you follow and stick to it, results are guaranteed. I have now put a button on my website which links you directly through to the Matt Roberts ‘Training with you’ website which is run in association with Conviviality. What else have I been up to? This weekend I went up to do my final Acupuncture training sessions with Bernard Nolan, his clients have included various well known premier football clubs, a number of well-known celebrities and he has appeared on GMTV, Trisha and other daytime TV programmes. It was great to learn from such a knowledgeable individual who made musculo-skeletal acupuncture, so understandable. I look forward to putting my skills into practice in a month’s time, once my case study has been submitted. Also on my weekly trip to the New York Coffee shop for my morning coffee in East Grinstead, I got to meet and talk briefly to the gorgeous Peter Andre; I can say he is as good looking in real life as he is on the TV! Happy Birthday Mr Andre, I hope you had a great day. Why have I chosen to add acupuncture to my list of skills? I have realised over the past 14 years of doing what I do, that having a holistic all round approach to people’s health and wellbeing means that not only can I treat their physical needs but I have the ability to work with them to modify their psychological barriers as well. I also feel it is extremely important not to try to go beyond my knowledge and to realise this when I need other professionals, such as the Physiotherapists that I work with at Head2ToePhysio in Crawley. I can honestly say that the most important thing to me is making someone’s life that little bit better using the skills I’ve picked up over the past 14 years. Listen out for me on Meridian 107fm the Local Community radio station in East Grinstead on Monday mornings and feel free to have a look on my website.
