If someone had suggested to me a few years ago that I'd be running round a field chased by zombies and ghouls just outside Crawley I would have laughed.
Tulley's farm has put a lot of effort into providing entertainment for all at their spooktacular event that runs for two weeks of the year. I recommend it if you haven't been. Jonathan Ross was there enjoying it the other day. Not sure if I consider him more scary than the attractions! My Kung Fu training is going well, I guess it helps having a 1:1 instructor. I love the challenge of learning the next section each week. Hypnotherapy can help you with fear of the unknown, or to help improve your sporting performance using techniques like visualisation, focusing and relaxation. I also think it's so important to link with other professionals. One of the things I have tried to do in the last few months is meet up with others in Sussex and London. A good network is such an important asset to any business. I was also impressed to find I had made an appearance in Glamour Magazine November 2012 issue on page 298, a feature with Matt Roberts and the So what's on the agenda next week? I am off to meet a couple of health professionals in London. If I like what I find,! I am hoping be able to refer clients to them over the coming months where appropriae. I've also been given the opportunity to try an Ayurvedic treatment. I'm looking forward to experiencing it. ![]() Sunday mornings are for reading the papers? Not for me. I headed up to central London to become part of the Matt Roberts team, massaging VIPs after their 13 mile run round the great parks in London. Luckily the weather gods provided the perfect running conditions. Not too hot, but a gorgeous sunny day. Trees with their autumnal colours looking like they’d been brushed on by a rainbow. Bright and early I headed up to London hoping that the security guard would have my name on the list, luckily it was. So who did I get to meet? Well the first person I bumped into was Ben Fogle, a lovely guy who you can’t help but slightly swoon over with that sexy voice and rugged good looks, his wife is stunning as well and what a lovely couple. I heard earlier in the day that Matt Roberts was there leading a group of kids like a pied piper. So with my massage thumbs switched on, a steady stream on VIPs came onto the couches from 11am until we stopped around 2pm. Celebrity runners this year included Katherine Jenkins, Jenni Falconer, Sophie Raworth, and Adam Woodyatt (Ian from Eastenders). I am most proud of Team Glamour from the Condé Nast Magazine group. I started working with a group from their editorial staff earlier in the year when most hadn’t even started to run. I felt like a proud Mum as they all came into the tent after completing their run. I would happily work with any of them again and they were raising money for a great cause, MIND, a charity involved in mental health problems. It was definitely worth getting up bright and early to say I was part of this amazing experience and I would happily give up another day in the future if the opportunity arose. What’s planned for this week? Tomorrow I’m off for my third Kung Fu 1:1 session. I absolutely love it. I started to learn 15 years ago but work got in the way. Now as I am my own boss I can give myself time off to go! There is nothing like swimming with thousands of fish, rays and sharks to make you realise how close we really are to nature, or riding a coaster which takes you through various g-forces! Where is your favourite place to relax? Some may find it’s the beach, others a room in their own home. When I see clients for hypnotherapy I use their favourite resting place to increase their relaxed state. My favourite is a sandy beach with my toes just by the edge of the water and the waves almost tickling my toes as they’re gently drawn back into the sea. Do you find it hard to relax? Hypnotherapy can show you how to relax. I work with many individuals who, due to work stress, home stress or just plan stress, just can’t relax. Their bodies just go into a vicious circle. They are unable to sleep due to thoughts in their heads, then unable to work effectively due to insomnia. Hypnotherapy can help put them back in control of their thoughts. Most people I’ve seen for hypnotherapy say they get the best night’s sleep ever following the session. You’d think I’d not been up to much else whilst lazing on loungers and riding rollercoasters. What is ‘Pay it Forward’? Years ago I watched a film called ‘Pay it Forward’. It was based on a true story of a social studies class that was set an assignment to change the world. One of the young class members decided his project was to be to ‘Pay it Forward’. Do a good deed for three people and instead of expecting a reward you ask them each to ‘Pay it Forward’ to three more people and so it continues like a small ripple getting bigger and bigger. Charley Johnson has taken it one step further by offering a bracelet as a reminder of the deed; we will have 10,000 of these in the UK soon. I was surprised how many people hadn't when I started to talk about it. It is basically about how one good deed deserves another but rather than returning the good deed to the same person, you suggest they do a good deed for someone else. Therefore you 'Pay it Forward'.
Little did I know until the other day that there is a 'Pay it Forward' Foundation. When I described how I'd done such a deed and tweeted about it. I was amazed and extremely honoured to get a message from Charley Johnson, the head of the pif foundation www.pifexperience.org. Let's get 'pif' rippling out across the UK. Just make one kind gesture and watch the ripple grow! Things have been steady growing work-wise and I can't believe it's been two months since I started the company! I'm looking into setting up a training branch at the moment and I have a meeting set up to discuss international clinics. I already have two people on a waiting list even though it's still only a thought in my head at the moment. There are lots of hypnotherapy clients booked in this week. I think they are all trying to squeeze in before my holiday! What's planned for the rest of the week? Thursday I'm up at my Harley Street clinic. Some of the Glamour magazine team are booked in for sports massage as their weekly mileage increases in preparation for the Great Parks half marathon. Their muscles are starting to wonder what's hit them! This is my 'Pay it Forward' moment this week. It’s been a great mixture of Hypnotherapy, Personal Training, and Sports Massage. I’ve had a steady stream of new clients throughout July that has kept me from sunbathing too much (or was that the lack of sun!). I’m just finished working with Glamour magazine, taking them through a 7 week Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ programme. Have you ever wondered what hypnotherapy can be used for? I would ask that the other way round. What can't it be used for? Weight loss is one of the areas hypnotherapy can complement and enhance other forms of training such as personal training, pilates and yoga. It gets to the the heart of the matter and can help to change years of bad habits, replacing them with positive ones. I have recently been working with several clients who, by changing their lifestyle and eating habits, lost between 10 and 17 pounds over an eight week period. Confidence and self esteem is another area where people seem to bloom steadily as the sessions progress. For me the reward of seeing someone grow is so motivational and inspires me a little bit more every time. What's planned for this week? Glamour magazine team have taken the Royal Great Parks Half Marathon challenge by the horns and are taking their training shoes all round the world. They took their Asics trainers to Australia on a photo shoot. There's dedication for you! Tuesday they are training in Berkeley Square with myself and Vicky from Matt Roberts 'Training with You'. It's going fantastically well. They've been using muscles in their bodies they didn't even know they had. I'm off to Harley Street to see clients on Thursday. Then topping the week off with a trip to Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead. I went last year for the first time and was so impressed by the events and exhibitors that I am looking forward to this year even more. In the British tradition I am going whatever the weather. Appointments have been keeping me very busy, spreading my time between London and Sussex. Last Thursday I went up to a ‘Women in Business’ networking meeting with Jon Roberts, a speaker from Matt Roberts Personal Training. What a fantastic motivational talk. I picked up the keys to my Harley Street consulting room last Thursday, so appointments will now be available there on a Thursday afternoon. The training with Team Glamour from Glamour magazine is going fantastically well. They are such highly motivated people who work so well together. They are training for the Great Parks run in London in October and are raising money for MIND. They have been going for four weeks now and have lost almost 16 kilograms between them already (almost 30 bags of sugar)! They have lost 25cms around their waist and 12.5cms round their hips between them. Keep up the great work ladies. So what’s planned for next week? Well lots more hypnotherapy and sports therapy clients are booked in but I have given myself the day off for my birthday on Wednesday 11th (21st birthday again for the 17th time)! This is the start of something amazing and I really can't wait to set out on this whole new adventure. So what have I been up to last week? Well on Tuesday I headed up to Central London to work with Vicky from Matt Robert's team, who are running the 'Training with You" programme in association with Conviviality. We are working with Glamour Magazine as they tone, train and test their bodies in a build up to their first half marathon at the Great Parks run. They are running in aid of MIND, a charity which helps individuals with mental illness by offering support, advice and just letting them know someone cares. You can follow Team Glamour's training blog here As hypnotherapy is my main line of work alongside Personal Training I know all to well how important it is knowing you're not alone in troubled times. The reason I became a hypnotherapist as well as a Personal Trainer is that I wanted to take training people to a whole new depth. It's all very well training your body but with a well balanced mind your training can be awesome, as they say in the USA! I had a client a few years ago who when I first met them could only walk five minutes on a treadmill and was extremely unconfident. Now she has run 10 miles in an hour and a half and is so much more confident in herself. Her story inspired me to get to where I am today. Now I want to inspire others to do the same, which is why for me there is no bog standard training session, everyone needs that magic ingredient to gain their fullest potential. I've been working with another group on the Matt Roberts 'Training with You' programme more locally in Hassocks. They've all stormed off to an amazing start in the first week losing inches and reducing body fat percentage. They are a great group to work with and I look forward to working with them for the next few weeks. What's planned for the following week? I pick up the keys to the room I'm using at No.1 -7 Harley Street this week and you can now book directly with me for a session there. Tuesday I'm off to London to train the Glamour magazine team in Berkeley Square. Thursday I'm off to London to a Women in Business meeting in Shoreditch. I invited ‘Jane Pattenden’ a friend and fellow trainer to talk about her new qualification in ‘Hypopresive Training’. She put Mark through his paces but having man flu didn’t help him. Thursday I went up to number 1 Harley Street to view a new therapy room to rent, which I am hoping to rent through the Harley Street Therapy centre. The room I have chosen has the most amazing view over the start of Harley Street and down to the Coutts building opposite. I am hoping it will be all up and running within a month. I am busy exploring all the amazing outcomes you can achieve from using hypnotherapy. It’s so inspiring to help someone take control back of their own future in such a positive way, that they feel completely in control of. What’s planned for this week? I’m off to the radio station Monday morning presuming I can get through all the road works in East Grinstead which is a challenge in itself! I’m looking forward to catching up with all my clients to hear about how much they’ve achieved since I last saw them. More and more hypnotherapy sessions are being booked which is great. Several of my clients are reporting a marked difference in their shapes or size. One client has lost a stone so far and others have reported losing several inches and have noticed their body shape changing. Most importantly they are not missing the bad habits and they have been replaced with healthy ones. I’ve also had great success with sports performance hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy puts athletes back in control, focusing the mind and relaxing the body. This encourages a whole sense of well being in any situation, whether on the field or off. Next week is going to be a whole new milestone in my life. I’ve been offered the opportunity to view a therapy room in Harley Street to practice from one afternoon a week. I’ll let you know how it went in the next blog. The Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ programme in association with Conviviality is marching on full steam ahead in the next few weeks. I’ve noticed promotional adverts appearing in one of the Sussex Magazines and my first group sessions will start in the coming week. So what's planned for the week ahead? I've been to London today for a workshop with Brian Weiss, an expert and well published author on past life regression hypnotherapy. I’ve got a new Personal Trainer client booked in and several hypnotherapy clients as well. Looks like it’s going to be a busy one and I’ve got to squeeze a visit to London in one afternoon! Nothing like a varied life full of exciting challenges to keep you on your toes I say!
