What a great start to my new company! Appointments have been keeping me very busy, spreading my time between London and Sussex. Last Thursday I went up to a ‘Women in Business’ networking meeting with Jon Roberts, a speaker from Matt Roberts Personal Training. What a fantastic motivational talk. I picked up the keys to my Harley Street consulting room last Thursday, so appointments will now be available there on a Thursday afternoon. The training with Team Glamour from Glamour magazine is going fantastically well. They are such highly motivated people who work so well together. They are training for the Great Parks run in London in October and are raising money for MIND. You can follow their training blog on http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/love-sex-relationships/health-fitness/2012/team-glamour-running-blog#!image-number=1and see what training myself and Vicky from the Matt Roberts ‘Training with You’ team have been putting them through. My Matt Roberts ‘Training With You’ ladies in Mid Sussex are also doing amazingly well with their sessions. They have been going for four weeks now and have lost almost 16 kilograms between them already (almost 30 bags of sugar)! They have lost 25cms around their waist and 12.5cms round their hips between them. Keep up the great work ladies. So what’s planned for next week? Well lots more hypnotherapy and sports therapy clients are booked in but I have given myself the day off for my birthday on Wednesday 11th (21st birthday again for the 17th time)! Monday at 9am I’ll be over in East Grinstead on the Meridian 107 FM Breakfast radio show I sponsor with Mark Dodson, and then off for my coffee at Mr Andre’s coffee shop. I’ve missed them whilst I’ve been so busy the last few weeks. On Tuesday evening, why not come and watch us train the Glamour Team in Berkeley Square. Fingers crossed the rain stays away! Monday morning I was up bright and early and off to the Meridian 107 FM studios in East Grinstead to take part in the Breakfast show I sponsor with presenter Mark Dodson. I invited ‘Jane Pattenden’ a friend and fellow trainer to talk about her new qualification in ‘Hypopresive Training’. She put Mark through his paces but having man flu didn’t help him. Thursday I went up to number 1 Harley Street to view a new therapy room to rent, which I am hoping to rent through the Harley Street Therapy centre. The room I have chosen has the most amazing view over the start of Harley Street and down to the Coutts building opposite. I am hoping it will be all up and running within a month. I am busy exploring all the amazing outcomes you can achieve from using hypnotherapy. It’s so inspiring to help someone take control back of their own future in such a positive way, that they feel completely in control of. What’s planned for this week? I’m off to the radio station Monday morning presuming I can get through all the road works in East Grinstead which is a challenge in itself! I’m looking forward to catching up with all my clients to hear about how much they’ve achieved since I last saw them. Or that person who walks behind you as you gaze into a shop window; you think you know them, but you turn around and realise it is someone completely different.
We judge people on first appearances. How many times have we read something in a local paper or national magazine and instantly judged someone without knowing the facts? Most of us are guilty at some point of doing this and we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t. The difference is some then choose to find out the facts then draw their own conclusions, others simply presume. In our everyday lives we judge people by how they look, how they dress or how they act. We are all born as individuals, yet we are taught as we become older to conform to particular standards. Respecting those around you is a common courtesy. We are taught to hold the door open for someone, and say please and thank you. What do you see when you see that elderly person in the street, or that person who has abilities that are impaired? I see individuals with unlimited potential to grow. As a Personal Trainer, who works with referrals from medical professionals, I am challenged everyday to open my eyes up and see past a person’s reflection looking back at me, even if they are looking back themselves in that metaphorical mirror thinking 'I cannot change'. To me, the person crippled with osteo-arthritis is the person I can take into a pool and maybe for the first time in years, allow them to feel weightless. Due to the nature of water their range of motion may be increased, as their joints glide freely under the water’s hydrostatic pressure. To see someone walking easily in water after years of walking in pain is more rewarding than any salary I could be paid. I am also fortunate to have the chance to work with various individuals with mental health issues, from schizophrenia to anxiety. The reward of watching that person flourish and continue on their individual positively affected journey makes coming to work a privilege rather than a chore. Next time you look into that mirror or reflection in the shop window, why not stop and take a closer look, look beyond what you see. I have chosen to always look beyond what stands in front of me and see right to the heart and soul of each individual person I meet on my journey. So whether it is something they’ve said, done or their appearance, are you willing to take the time to judge what’s behind the mask? For some of us we will choose not to, at the fear of what we might find. But as an unknown author once wrote, 'Never be afraid to try something new. Remember amateurs built the Ark, professional built the Titanic.’ |
